Sorry for not using proper english here, but damn you amazon. They basically ruin everything, i heard their anime subs are pretty bad.

Comixology has already been fully merged into Kindle, definitely not for the better. I don’t think Amazon is going to get out of selling comics any time soon, but I could see the Comixology brand being dumped.
RIP to all the fine folks at Comixology that were still trying to fight the good fight for their users. It’s too bad Amazon’s influence and control was too strong for them to remain as a dedicated business unit. At least they were able to slightly de-suckify the new Kindle-with-a-skin Comixology app in the last few months. Now it’s only about 80% worse than the original app instead of 100%.

I really liked Comixology, bought plenty of comics through them. I hoped their acquisition would not change things, but I guess Amazon eventually stupidly killed them after assimilating as much as they could. Folks formerly from Comixology, I hope you find new good jobs, I know you deserve it because your site and apps were nice and cool.

tbh they were barely worse than CR and Aniplex. Most are bad overall. anyway, this is awful. tons of people jobless and another platform will be gone

They don't have 'subs'. They have English Closed Captions. Personally I find it impossible to watch when every musical beat and sound effect has a description.

Comixology has been circling the drain for a year now. When they merged it with Kindle, they also cut off sales to every country except the U.S. and the U.K. Now they've let the whole staff go. Digital comics are effectively dead, and since Marvel and (I think) DC also use the Comixology engine to power their own apps, we're looking at a massive market shift. Since Amazon owns the Comixology patent to the "Guided View" technology expect any digital comics that do survive to be a lot more difficult to read.

The digital market for comics was always stagnant every I saw those yearly reports on where comics were being bought. They were usually less than 10% of the comic market Maybe one time they got up to 12% or so but I kind of stopped checking for a while. Comics never seemed to take off in the digital space like things like video games and streaming shows did.

So I mean, not Imminent, but probably late-summer to mid-autumn shutdown.

I buy physical manga and comics when they're like my favorites, but if my Comixology library was converted into books, I would not remotely have enough shelf space for all of them. Initial D alone is 48 volume.

Yeah, I pick up physical releases of my favorite things, but there's a ton of stuff I buy digitally that I wouldn't buy if physical was the only option. I have a limited amount of shelf space and don't want to worry about what to do with something once I'm never going to read it again.
Anyway, sucks to see this happen; Comixology used to be great until Amazon bought and ruined it, as Amazon does with almost everything they touch.

I live in México and used to buy comics in the Comixology webpage almost every week. (More than 5000 comics ) After the merge with Amazon it became impossible to buy comics on the platform for my country and others. A pity this happens.
