Is this her first live-action role in general? I know she has such presence as a VA that it'll be interesting to see that translate to live-action.

I think it's also worth noting that seiyuus appear quite regularly in the Taiga dramas, especially recently.

Other examples include (from my memory):
Wataru Takagi in "Sanada Maru" (2016), Akio Ohtsuka and Kazuhiro Yamaji in "Kirin ga Kuru" (2020), Ryotaro Okiayu and Rikiya Koyama in Seiten o Tsuke (2021), Koichi Yamadera and Hiroaki Hirata in Kamakura-dono no 13-nin (2022), Subaru Kimura in Dou Suru Ieyasu (2023).
There's also Ryuzaburo Otomo in Dokuganryu Masamune (1987) and Kensho Ono in Fuurin Kazan (2007), both are basically "blink and you missed it" roles.

To be honest, this is the only time I wished this upcoming NHK Taiga drama should be given an international release and given the long-track of J-drama not being made accessible for international audiences outside of Japan/Asia. I wish this was on Netflix (or Viki), or if NHK can put up subtitled episodes on their YT channel.

I believe this is her third (fourth if we count that one Ninninger special where her character from the show had a human form), she had been in a few since 2019, one of which co-starred Keiko Kitagawa (PGSM Sailor Mars).

I don't think this one counts necessarily. Other than being the official Japanese voice for Harry Potter, Kensho Ono started his career as a live-action actor. It was only in the early 2010s he started focusing on voice acting.

Oh, that's very interesting information you shared there, I wasn't aware of this until now. Thanks for adding this, that's really useful.

Kotono Mitsuishi is an icon and one of my favorite seiyuus and it's exciting to see her branch out into live action.
