What a strange thing to say. Because the fans have an issue in that while the preview had a passable translation, the actual released volumes seem to be at best edited machine translation... MarzGurl on twitter has the whole scoop, with screenshots and all, you can make your own judgment there; https://twitter.com/MarzGurl/status/1617018441726316544 Edit; Oh, and perhaps I should mention ComicsTitan turned off comments on twitter once fans and others started to ask questions. Titan doubled down with this garbage statement: https://mobile.twitter.com/ComicsTitan/status/1618296517294710788
"Highly respected translators" my ass. This is the kind of craven nonsense Tokyopop would pull, remember their Initial D translation statement? Sharpies and white out anyone? I bet they lowballed on translation because they're a comics publisher and not in the know on manga, and then when the pros decided to drop out they went to sweatshops for the work instead. |

Between this and the Zero-One comic being considered utter dreck, it’s been a rough couple of months for Rider fans in the West. I suppose just acknowledging the screw up isn’t feasible.
Still, I feel sorry for anyone who was legitimately looking forward to this. |

I bet the licensor or someone on the Japan side demanded a super literal translation. Flashbacks to the first Kodansha release of Sailor Moon.

I’d almost agree if the translations weren’t super off There was part just before the serial killer gets done in by a grongi and in their previews he thought something like “COULD THIS REALLY BE MY GODDESS?” But the release had him think “COULD THIS REALLY BE MY PLACE?” Just lazy as all heck. |

The crazy thing about Titan's response is that today is Shotaro Ishinomori's birthday. While obviously not done intentionally, they literally tried to defend a subpar release of a Kamen Rider manga on the birthday of the creator of the entire franchise, and the manga is based on the last entry he knew was in the works. If that's not some bad karma ordained from a higher power, then Titan are just insanely unlucky. |

There's also the most recent edition which had translation differences that the Nibleys (Eternal Edition translators) knew nothing about despite being credited on them. https://double-dear.livejournal.com/1417953.html |

If the original preview pages were for promotional purposes only then surely thats false advertising?
It baffles me that when it came time to work on the final product, they didn't even reuse the translation they'd already done of these pages. Forget the lettering, they could have just copyed the dialogue from the these pages and instead redid it worse. |

Oh lord. I looked it up, and it sounds like someone (whose name probably stars with an N) is back to their old ways. Very glad I bought the eternal editions, with the Nibleys’ fantastic translations. |

It’s never a good sign when a publisher has to defend a terrible localization. I’m getting Tenjo Tenge flashbacks.

I have yet to even read it, but now I'll just have to set it aside and hope they fix this.
While I'm happy Shout Factory has handled the OG series, Kuuga, Ryuki, and Zero One, I'm curious as to how and why Discotek is getting to handle Black, and still confounded that Agito (and maybe Faiz?) is on Toku, via Amazon Prime Video. My one thought is, I'd rather have one company be trusted the license to handling Rider stateside, or that Toei/Ishi-Pro/Bandai just have faith that those willing to put in the effort be the ones to handle one of their flagship franchises. It's great to be a fan of Kamen Rider, but botched work like this can be a stain on the overall image without looking closer at who's handling it, or what's going on. |

You do understand that people are upset at no localization in this case, right? |

It's weird to see ANN's article list her as a source but not cite her as an inciting incident. Regardless, no one looks good from this. |

Localization simply refers to the English version of a product regardless of the content. A bad translation is still a localization issue. |

Well, that kind of sucks, but I didn't really plan on checking out the Kuuga manga anyways given some of what I've heard about it.
