Sounds quite promising. And I hope they reach out to not just blockbuster IPs, but also best-selling web content (Novels or comics) that has huge anime influence, like Iron Widow. That would be another way to widen the content too.

Quote: | Finally, they highlighted some of their favorite overseas collabs in recent years: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Arcane, the Super Mario Bros. film, and Batman Ninja. Regarding that last title, they remarked that Batman Ninja wasn't Batman anymore—in a good way, of course. In that sense, you shouldn't just hire Japanese artists to draw things exactly as they were originally; you need to let them go wild and show the world what's great about anime. |
Glad to see some of my favorite Japanese animation studios showing love for some of my favorite "overseas" productions/collabs (barring the Super Mario Bros. film, obviously). I'm not surprised that there was plenty of backlash to Batman Ninja back in the day, ironically for the very things they are praising. It's also nice to see Cyberpunk getting recognition from someone other than Kojima in Japan.

>It is also easier than ever now to scout talent on social media. Both producers remarked on how they've been able to find some remarkably skilled artists this way from countries like China, France, Taiwan, and Brazil. Many of these young animators are in their 20s, have grown up with anime available via streaming, and are incredibly passionate about what they draw. In the producers' own words, they possess "passionate otaku hearts."
Leave it to the studio higher-ups to spin something that is obviously a symptom of a broken industry to something positive.

It's somewhat assuring to hear that overseas growth of anime doesn't effect the anime all that much.
