I really liked the atmosphere the previous trailer and teaser gave me. I kinda had the same feeling in the beginning here.. until the opening song kicked in, yikes

Any info about how many episodes? 25-26?

Same here. And I can already tell that the girl with the ridiculous pink hair is totally going to kill this series for me...

You must be new to gundam. Honestly, outside of UC, it's normal for Jpop in openings and endings. He'll, seeds openings sound like they could be rave songs.

The key visual reminds me of Reconguista with everyone flying in the air.
Seems like the central relationship will be Suletta and Miorine, especially since Miorine is the daughter of the man who basically killed all of Suletta's family except her mother.
It doesn't seem like Suletta is out for a traditional revenge story. Is she just using this as a chance to show that the Gundam and the GUND system can work and they didn't need to kill everybody?
The Opening was more...girl pop than I expected.

Probably 40-52.
Most mainly AUs have been that length outside of Build and G-Reco.
Could also be reverse 00/Geass where Gundam premeires first and Geass after and they flip.

Even UC Gundam had its fair share of J-pop openings and endings, especially Zeta. Granted, most people in North America may not have heard the original opening and ending songs since they weren't included in the North American DVD release due to licensing issues. ZZ's first opening was also most definitely J-pop.

Maybe it's just me but I get thrown off when the opening suddenly has a different tone compared to the series itself. The seed openings are fine with me because of the nostalgia factor.

Reading this thread made me want to listen to the old Gundam songs. I mean, technically all Gundam songs are J-pop/J-rock. They simply differ slightly based on the style of the composer/singer. Notably, Hiroyuki Sawano has his own brand of pop that feels particularly different from the other songs. It's probably nostalgia that made this new OP sounds weird. I feel like this song's gonna grow on me though. I really like the techno part at the end.

Yeah, I'm expecting it's going to be a split cour of 24-26 episodes each.

I'm calling it now: instead of the usual electrical current and vfx to indicate the "Newtype flash," when Suletta awakens to her supernatural abilities her eyebrows will split open revealing a second set of eyes.
