Ohhhh yes have I been waiting for this.

I think we're looking at a 2 cour season - season 1 ended with volume 9 and volume 18 is about to be released so theres a pretty good chance of 2 cours I think.

Season 1 is also getting a rebroadcast starting from October.

I'm betting there might be a more detailed trailer on the OAD Blu-ray with volume 18. Seems quite timely that it's out just before vol 18's release.

Two interesting points:
1) ANN had a press release - I wonder why I was being ignored sending tips to the newsroom - is ANN getting such a press release an acknowledgement of it's popularity in the English speakng fandom by the production committee ?

2) The announcement materials especially cast comments were littered with English translations - does this mean we've got a US company sat on the production committee assisting with Translation or they've done it themselves ?

Noice, noice, very noice. I haven't watched the first season since it's original broadcast so I think a rewatch to get ready for the new season is in order.

From what I've seen of the OAD's there is nothing to worry about Smile

Didn't see huge changes in art style etc at all.

I'm honestly glad Wit isn't doing it, they were barely able to handle things by the end of the first season.

Can't wait though, I'm so excited!

About Fn time! That this would get a second season was not a question, but why so long? One would think the more popular, the faster a second season happens. Is the industry in "first come, first served" mode?...

Not much surprised this happened, given the OADs and a couple of active spin-offs. Still, I've enjoyed the college arc through vol. 15 (the most recent English release) and agree that it should be interesting to see Chise interacting with a much broader cast. Definitely now one of my most-anticipated titles for next year.

Hate to think how much the blurays will be at 2023 prices - gradually jacked up since season 1

If you've been reading the manga, you'll know why; the College arc is one big story with a ton of subplots threaded through it, and they're only able to adapt any of it now that it's finally wrapping up. (17 looked like it was headed that way, anyway, I don't read it monthly.)

Because there was practically no material to adapt for a good long while. The first season covered volumes 1-9 of the manga, and at the time it ended the manga had just released Volume 11. Between being a monthly series, the next major story arc being a very long and involved one, and the series having at least one hiatus, it's honestly surprising to see this happening as soon as it is.
