I have to admit it's kind of surreal to see Ash having a proper 6-on-6 battle with Cynthia ever since his plot contrived Tobias fight in the Sinnoh League.
I hope it's a good battle...I kind of wish Ash was using his Sinnoh team though. Infernape vs Garchomp! It'd be lit!

According to upcoming episode titles and description, Ash vs Cynthia battle will be 3 episodes long. From the preview, you can see the stadium’s big screen which the list of pokemon used by Ash and Cynthia and their status are visible in some scenes. The battle will go like this:
Cynthia’s first 4 pokemon will be Spiritomb, Roserade, Togekiss and Gastrodon. Gastrodon will be the first one to be knocked out and Spiritomb will be second. Ash’s first 3 pokemon will be Dragonite, Gengar and Pikachu. Dragonite and Gengar will be the first two to be knocked out and Pikachu is third.
The halfway point is Spiritomb and Pikachu knock each other out, leaving Ash with Sirfetch’d, Dracovish and Lucario while Cynthia is left with Roserade, Togekiss, Milotic and Garchomp. Although, during this point Ash’s remaining 3 pokemon haven’t battled at all while Cynthia’s 2 out of 4 remaining pokemon already battled and might have taken some damage.
Lucario will be Ash’s last pokemon standing while Togekiss and Garchomp will be Cynthia’s last two pokemon standing.

I think it will come down to Mega Lucario vs. Mega Garchomp. It's already been established that you can only use one of the three - Mega Evolution, Z-Move, Dynamax - once in each battle, and Satoshi has all three of those. He used Pikachu's Z-Move against Steven, so there will likely be Mega vs. Mega in his fight against Cynthia and Gigantamax Charizard vs. Gigantamax Gengar in the final match with Leon.

Why? He already defeated two champions: Iris and Steven. And Steven was number 3 in the rank, right behind Cynthia, who is number 2. So defeating her hardly sounds absurd now. After all that setup this season, I think he will get, at worst, second place after losing to Leon in the finals. But I believe he will, at least, reach the final match.

I doubt that last part, since I don't think anybody in production cares enough about Gengar to make him the crucial part of the final match against Leon's ace. I'd say Pikachu suddenly gaining the ability to Gigantamax on command is more likely, as stupid as it is.

Pikachu already went Gigantamax all the way back in episode 13 when Ash battled Leon for the first time.

Hence the "on command", please read next time.

...yes? Ash knows how to use Dynamax now compared to that episode where it was first time, I'm not sure how using it here with Pikachu would be some kind of asspull.

Cynthia needs to win convincingly, Ash is not on her level.
I hope it doesn't come to a one on one, it's not believable.
They made Steven's pokemon look weak in the last round, they have always made Cynthia look very strong in the previous battles she has been in and has to win this.

After the very justified meltdown over XYZ ending with 20+ years of status quo reinforced yet again (Ash losing a tournament, failing to confront the notion of romance or otherwise emotionally mature) despite endless buildup causing people to think that it would FINALLY be broken, they tried to do a soft reboot with Pokemon Sun and Moon. Setting and narrative changes, drastically new animation styles, replacing traveling alongside companions to collect gym badges with a classroom setting and all that. Plus a bunch of gimmicks intended to goose ratings like bringing back Misty and Brock. It still didn't work. Plus while XYZ got decent ratings and was entertaining on some level, a lot of it was stuff rehashed from earlier series. Plus remember this was after Black and White was ALSO something of a reset.
So, the current thinking is that the franchise did everything it possibly could with Ash years ago thanks to the decision to "freeze him in time." Which is itself inconsistent. Progression seems to happen with the other characters - Misty is a gym leader, Brock is pursuing becoming a Pokemon doctor, Gary is now a Pokemon researcher, Jessie at least once (in Sun and Moon) referred to having been trying in vain to steal Pikachu from Ash "for years" - but Ash is forever 10. Anyhow, so they are doing their very best to let everyone think that this series is going to be the end of Ash's story. And that afterwards it is going to either proceed with Gou (and maybe Chloe), be completely rebooted or just end.
If that is the case, why have Ash lose to Cynthia? Or even to Leon? It wouldn't even be a "life lesson." Ash got past being the bratty Indigo League kid who threw temper tantrums after losing way back in Ruby and Sapphire. By Diamond and Pearl he was reacting to losing championship tournaments with "the journey is more important than the destination" shrugs. This is why everyone thought that he was going to win a championship in X&Y. (Not Black and White because it was a reset with the return of dumb, immature Ash, though not as dumb and immature as from Indigo League.)
So to follow up the series where he finally wins a championship with him losing again and leaving for good? If they go that route then PLEASE at the very least have them end the series and the Ash era with Ash having his 11th birthday party, with all his traveling companions, major recurring characters etc. in attendance with Ash at long last pondering "which of Misty, May, Dawn, Ash, Iris, Serena, Lillie or Chloe should accompany me on this thing that I have heard so much about called 'going on a date'"? (No, he shouldn't pick one. Even if it would be excellent fodder for an "Ash's Date" special as a callback to the types of specials they used to have all the time with the best being Pikachu's Vacation, the fandom wouldn't be able to handle it.)
I know, something so status quo-shattering is beyond this production group after 25 years. Which is why it had better end with Ash winning, which is the one status quo they already broke last season and should have no problems repeating.

Honestly would love if Ash's Charizard makes an appearance. That thing has got to be a beast by now after years of training.

understatement of the year
for if he does win the whole thing, its more or less the end of his status as the main character for he would have accomplish what he set out to do since the beginning and that is to become a master!
