Looks like Daman threatened the kid with a expensive lawsuit unless he pulled all allegations.

What the hell?! Are you kidding me? There's literally authentic screenshot evidence of his behavior. Sorry, but I still believe and stand with the victim. I believe he was threatened. I hope Daman Mills' career comes to an end either way. I'm so ashamed to have supported a disgusting and horrible man.

....That sure was a statement that didn't say anything about the accusations being wrong though. It sounded almost like a proof-of-life ransom note. Honestly just makes me more suspicious.

I'm not buying this especially after he threatened the victim with a C&D.

...I'm not really sure what to think of this, especially in light of their being physical evidence.
I'm curious if they're going to try hard to sweep this under the rug before it effects Mills' career. |

As much as my mind leans towards the negative with this statement (i.e. the victim could have violated the cease-and-desist letter Mills sent and thus was being threatened with legal action) I truly don't think I should speculate on the matter since I don't know and likely will never know the truth of the situation, but I truly hope Duncan finds peace and I really feel for him.
As far as Daman's immediate career is concerned (key word being "immediate" because ughh longterm repercussions is a whole other discussion I could get into), I don't really know what's going to happen. I guess that's for individual studios & casting directors (and audiences over time) to decide? We won't know for a couple weeks at least if he's been replaced in any simuldubs given their production schedule (and Odd Taxi + Vanitas don't count since the former likely wrapped before all this and the latter was apparently a one-off character that won't show up again anyway). And the show he's co-directing right now is shared with three of four other directors. I just really don't know how to feel about this whole thing, but I do know I don't feel good about it. |

Seems like the victim withdrew the accusations. I might have been because of cease and desist. But part of me wonders if the victim simply didn’t want to become the center of a controversy and thought the accusations weren’t worth the negative attention he was going to get. I worked in a law office once and I know various cases where victims decided withdraw accusations of sexual assault because the lengthy legal battle might be not worth the money spent on it. Hell, there was even cases where the accused didn’t fight back and they victim still withdrew the accusations because it costed too much money to take it to court. It costs a lot to legally accuse anyone of anything.

Oh yeah, I 100% can't blame fellow colleagues for staying silent on this whole thing after that whole fiasco and its fallout (also because I truly believe people in the industry were probably very taken aback by this whole thing - dude seemed very well-liked and was hired continually and consistently). I also chalked up the lack of a company statement partially due to it being unresolved and "unofficial". The other times companies have officially put out statements have been due to official court rulings (ex. Freeman) or cases involving their own employees and staff (ex. Mignogna). Any other cases of blacklisting have been mostly just quiet re-castings or just simply not hiring them anymore (see Eric Rolon & possibly Chuck Huber outside of DBZ stuff) because its not like any actors are salaried anyway. They're all contractors, and directors don't need any reason beyond "I don't enjoying working with them" to stop hiring them for projects. |

So, either we have a false allegation and the claimant is basically admitting fault or withdrawing from real claims because of possible threats against the claimant. Either way, it sadly further puts frustration on this case.

Whiplash. I don’t want to get too much in conjecture but we all saw the screenshots.

My thoughts are we've been denied answers and because of that I don't really see why I should trust Mills rights now because he was part of keeping those answers from coming forth. Furthermore, I don't believe for one second that the ANN staff would waste their time on frivolities.

Yep. I'm not saying any publication is 100% perfect or without a misstep once in a while, but there's zero chance ANN wouldn't take this case up with the utmost sincerity and seriousness. Especially since the only other source of "reporting" on these cases (and I use that term in the loosest sense possible) are clickbait YT's. And the majority of those are barely worth the time it takes to block the channel from your feed. |
