LOL
Well Well Well one of the oldest and classical anime series is making a comeback.
I knew either this or Ranma 1/2 might get something within this decade and it turns out it was true.
Atlough i expected more around 2027-2028 since it would be 50th anniversary remake or something kind of like dororo.
bring it, the modern fandom needs to know this series

Maison Ikkoku and Ranma 1/2 will get new adaptations as well at one point, most likely.

Since this will air on Noitamina, would it be correct to assume that it will be a short series that will take elements from the original manga to make something new instead of making a faithful adaptation?

Wow, when was the last time a TV anime was announced in a newspaper like this?

"UY Allstars" is something's that's being used alongside all of this promotion, so there's a possibility that instead of being a straight adaptation of the original manga, it might just be more of an adaptation of the best & most iconic chapters of the manga. Considering that noitaminA anime never air more than two cour at a time, how long the manga itself is, & how episodic it normally is, this would likely be the best option to go with.

While I'm glad to hear this, I just had to double-check and came to the devastating realization that the original anime is over 40 years old now. I can't believe it's been that long.

I'd be happy to see the Urusei Yatsura characters again but I'd prefer to see them in brand new stories instead of just reanimating manga chapters that were already adapted well-enough the first time. (Yes, I know the original TV series often padded up the story from the manga chapters a bit to fill time, like how there wasn't any of the stuff with the secret agents kidnapping Ataru to bring him home before Ataru met Lum in the very first chapter of the manga, but the time-fillers didn't usually affect the overall story.)

I am INSANELY EXCITED for this!!!
Urusei Yatsura is my absolute favorite anime. I wonder what they'll do with this new anime.
I just... god I'm so happy! Best start of a new year!

It really makes sense for it to be a remake, given its over 40 years old most anime fans weren't even alive when it came out. Introducing it to a new audience with a remake is the best way to do this, instead of just "best of episodes" or whatever.

I don't know rather to be dismayed or thrilled by this. I outgrew Takahashi's brand of juvenile humor a long time ago, Ranma and Ureusei Yatsura were fine when I first started watching anime 20+ years ago but they just don't cut it any more. I think I'll pass on this.

I never got into Urusai Yatsura, but I still love Ranma 1/2 as much at 41 as I did at 15 when I first read the manga. Which, yeah, really showing my age here. It's my comfort food. I'd love to see the rest of the manga get an anime adaptation.

I don't think you belong in the target audience anyway.
This won't be series for fans of original adaptation.

Ranma 1/2 would have been a better choice for a new adaption. The original anime was never finished.

Would have preferred Ranma, but this will be interesting...depending the studio.
What a start to 2022.

Will probably watch it. Although, I checked out Maison Ikkoku out of curiosity but got sick of its repetitiveness and blue balling within first 20 episodes. Hopefully, this show is unlike that.
