Unnecessary celebrity stunt casting at its finest. I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head.

When they revealed Pratt as Mario's voice I couldn't believe it, but the rest of the cast actually sounded pretty cool, I can totally get on board with Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser. But it seems that Pratt as Mario is dividing a lot of people, I don't know why exactly, I've only seen him in the MCU and the Jurassic World movies but he actually did a pretty good job as Emmet in The LEGO Movie (in which Charlie Day played Benny the spaceman) and Barley in Onward.
I'm actually more intrigued about the movie's plot, is interesting that Donkey and Cranky Kong are set to appear, and also Foreman Spike from Wrecking Crew, but it's weird Yoshi wasn't mentioned. Perhaps they'll try to do a origin story for the Mario brothers.
But I'll have to wait some time to see the movie in English, since kids movies are always released dub-only in my country, and the Neutral Spanish dubs for Illumination movies are plagued with tons of celebrities doing voices, some sound fine, but they also tend to cast singers who have very little acting experience. It wouldn't surprise me if Peach is dubbed by a singer or even a YouTuber, though Donkey Kong might be voiced by his DKC cartoon voice actor since he also voices Gunter the pig in Illumination's Sing. I also want to know about the eventual Japanese cast.

Of all the Chrises to pick, you had to pick the worst one. Other than Mario, I'm fine with the voice cast (Anya Taylor-Joy in particular is a very...interesting choice). We shall see

I'm totally here for Jack Black as Bowser which is the perfect casting for him. I'm not supeer fond of the Chris Pratt casting and I'm confused why they're having Charles Martinet as a cameo role but not Mario himself. And if they're going to recast, they should have went with an Italian actor or something.

I'm pretty skeptical about Pratt as Mario, but I'm sure Martinet will be a great mentor for him in a role as massive as this - much like how Roger Craig Smith was supportive of Ben Schwartz as Sonic - another role I was skeptical of when another celebrity became the voice of a video game character. You can tell how Nintendo tried to put its heart and soul into this project to make sure that this movie is - if not good - living up to its full potential. I wish them the best of luck in doing so.

I don't get these comments about Chris Pratt as Mario. That's what doesn't make sense? This whole movie baffles me. They could have cast anyone as Mario and it would have made as much sense.

The voice cast actually does make me want to see this movie even more. I had a mild curiosity before, but they got some fun people to do the voices, so I'm definitely leaning more towards actual excitement now. But I'll reserve full judgement until we can get our first couple of trailers.

This radiates the energy of a big 90s animated film down to the celebrity cast. And that kind of works for Mario.

I really don’t understand why people are against the idea of having Chris Pratt voicing Mario?

Like have they forgotten about Sonic and Detective Pikachu?
