And coming on the same day as Geekend which announced around 4 new Animes too. This must be quite the day to be an Anime fan.

I love LOTR but this seems like an odd choice to adapt into anime. What happened to the rest of GITS SAC 2045?

The 2nd season could still be in development.

A prequel that's not the Silmarillion? And why not get the Vinland Saga peeps, instead?

That's just because Amazon and New Line got rights only for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit - and not other Tolkien works. Even their live-action series supposed to be a prequel.

Wit Studio? Probably the same deal why they resigned to make Attack on Titan continuation - they want to make more original-based works.

If you gave me 50 guesses across the entire legendarium I don't think I would have ever come up with someone doing an anime take on Helm Hammerhand of all people, but the fact that it's Kenji Kamiyama makes me very curious.

I'm always open for more legendarium, animated or otherwise. Will definitely keep an eye on this.

Hope they got good CGI horse tech if it'll be centered around Rohan.

This has potential. It has no direct ties to LotR. It involves intrigue and betrayal. Lots of people die in battle. And Helm is a certified (and perhaps certifiable) badass. So, it can possibly work, IMO, if they do it right. Also, the scale isn't too big in the sense that they won't need to spend a lot of time setting things up for the average viewer to understand what's going on.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Also worth noting is that Jason Demarco says he'll be co-producing, so this might wind up a Williams Street co-production.

Between this and the Bright anime, very sad to see talented anime directors being thrown into the Hollywood grinder and told to make stuff other than what got them acclaim in the first place.

A Lord of the Rings anime could be...something. Especially with Kamiyama at the helm.

This is so far out of left field that I don't know what to think. I am curious about who pitched this idea in the first place, and why now of all times?

Don't know about how Kamiyama got involved, but the timing isn't too surprising. Amazon is trying to milk LotR for all it's worth and spending ridiculous amounts of money to do it.
