Hmmm, with the Olympics, I'm not surprised by this.
It's not going to do any harm to my anime viewing because I don't plan on watching what're mostly listed here.
With the exception of Love Live & Demon School. But I have Love Live waitlisted right now, so whatever delays are planned for it during the Olympics won't do any harm in watching it.
Demon School I'm actually watching, but I've started it so late that even if the planned episode during the Olympics gets canceled, again; it's not going to harm my ability to watch it because I'm far back on it right now.
And besides, when it comes to the Olympics; I usually watch a light amount of anime. If not just watch the Olympics as a break from anime.

No! Not Love Live! Supertar!! Oh well, I can still watch Aquatope without delay.
Delays because of the animation quality is far more worst than this just like what happened to Girls und Panzer and Azur Lane.

Iruma-kun
It's weird that the Olympics is still going ahead without any spectators. I'm going to miss seeing the cameras focus on a random group of people.

It’s a shame, but on the bright side, it gives people who were watching those anime but fell behind a chance to catch up! Honestly, I still need to start Love Live Superstar....

So if the NHK broadcast of Love Live is already delayed, I assume that also means there's still an additional delay for the simulcast?

Depends on that days competition . If stuff wraps early broadcast might go ahead just depends but I guess this is worst possible scenario.
NHK won’t let overseas broadcasts get ahead of itself for sure so if Japan is delayed so will overseas.
Joran was a rare beast that ran a full week ahead of Japan that surprised me immensely

Good to know. This cements my decision to not watch Love Live Superstar.

Why are we even having the Olympics? To paraphrase a tweet I saw, "An Olympics with no spectators and the fastest woman not being allowed to compete for smoking weed isn't the Olympics. That's a P.E. class."

It's still airing on TV isn't it? I don't think there necessarily needs to be an actual stadium audience to justify doing it. They did the same thing with sports games last year.

So, question: since the studios bought these timeslots and it is the broadcaster that is cancelling them, will NHK have to offer replacement openings at no charge and/or refund some of the purchase if episodes end up not airing at all? Where is Answerman when you need him...
Well, this isn't really a surprise. It happens every year with the tennis, and of the Olympics are much bigger than that.
