You snakes...haha,,,,It actually makes sense since they have to wait for more content to be released in manga before you get the anime..but i think this is the first time ever i have ever seen a s2 announcement like this

That announcement actually makes some sense. I figured there would be a second season, but the question of when they would have enough material to use meant it was unlikely to have a firm date.

I guess season 2 never doesn't apply here? I don't expect it to come anytime soon though.

Welp, that gives them an 83-year deadline.

If the show sells as much as it's projected to, it should be considered successful enough to get a second season. The problem is that it will probably take about three years for the manga to accumulate enough material for another 12 episodes, considering the fact that the first season covered over 2/3 of the 63 chapters that have been published so far. And we're talking about a monthly serialization here. Maybe releasing an OVA episode every four months or so would be a better idea.

Too bad that the author of the manga worked at a pretty slow pace and his work on Drifter is undeniably amazing but at least, with this announcement, I know that they wouldn't abandon this franchise anytime soon.

Yup, I like it, I want another season whenever they can do it. Loved the show.

At least they were being honest indicating they might know when it will be released. I prefer that over someone saying something "stay tuned for season 2 to come in the summer" then it gets delayed a few seasons.
