For the curious, "Truck Dad" is just a mild retitling of the famous Truck Yarou (variously translated as anything from "Truck Guys" to "Truck Bastard") series—you can see the exact poster being appropriated at this link.
And yeah, these movies are definitely worth building a religion around. |

Not particularly deep, but VERY well executed. Beautifully choreographed gymnastics routines, solid voice acting, good direction, and a narrative pace that doesn’t drag. Through six episodes, I’m hooked.

Yuri on Ice I think is an exception to the sports shows because its not a team event, at least not for the solo figure skating portion. Its tropey, like other anime, but the tropes are less overt not used as much in other shows cause in team sports, all those characters are together where their tropey-ness makes up a good portion of the show when the athletes aren't doing flips, or receiving serves, etc.

I genuinely though this was an ironic statement at first because I literally dropped the first episode because of how awful the performance (specifically the 3D portion) was from a visual point of view. And the gif shown is a particularly egregious case. When it was clear that that was meant as "look how great it is" I had to go back and re watch the 1st episode in case I was miss remembering and the gif quality was too low to do it justice. But nope, it looks about as good as those terrible idol dance sequence. This weird mix of every character looking like plastic combined with them reusing the same motion for all the character and the lack of weight behind every movement makes everything seem fake, it's like uncanny valley for movement. |

I thoroughly enjoyed every episode, and easily loved that (out of nowhere) horror episode! I like that there's always substance or character development even in the most comedic episode like the horror one. The latest episode seems to be just a winding down episode after the competition last week, by having them preparing for midterm exam. But sure, it develops into a get-to-know our Sensei, and he's got quite a history, he really owned this episode. A romance spin-off between Sensei and his wife would seem like a sweet story I'd take all day, he wouldn't just change from a single line, would he?
The character dynamics are the most fun since Haikyuu for me. And I can't help but root for these dorks. |

One of the few sporting events that I dislike completely is rhythmic gymnastics! I positively hate it. I started Backflip!! and when it got to the gymnastics part and I saw it was Rhythm all I could think was, "Oh hell no!" Then I finished the first episode. Dang it! I still hate rhythmic gymnastics, but I love this show. Now anime world don't go making any animes about synchronize swimming (my second least favorite sport). Please don't. I'll forgive you for this one but no other crappy sport please.
