I've been following Annecy selections for a few years now and the official selection always seems more memorable to me when anime films are selected among the rest of them. High-profile anime films can also help bring notoriety to the other foreign films as well, because the films that aren't from Japan are good in their own right. This is a festival where 'Paprika,' 'Colorful,' and 'A Silent Voice' have played in competition, and to see more films join the extensive list of anime films competing at Annecy brings a smile to my face.
