It is moot. Japanese business are still reeling from COVID-19 last year. since lock downs are illegal, all the Japanese government can do is beg and plea with business and people stay indoors, but I no see any way people will give up another Golden Week for COVID.

Good luck government, you will need it.

I suppose it's a bubble thing, but all the Japanese people I follow on Twitter are being outraged about employees not being allowed to work from home, etc., and especially about the Olympics still going ahead despite all that's going on. Some of them have been posting articles with anonymous comments from volunteers who work on Olympics stuff and it's fairly horrific, volunteers being told outright not to expect getting vaccinated, or working and living in a "safe bubble" during the event, etc. They're basically given like two masks and a bottle of hand sanitizer, and advised to hope for the best.

Yeah, I am not surprised. The push towards "tele-working" has been remarkable, but one has to think about the general rigidness of the corporate environment and it is not hard to arrive at the conclusion that so many upper management is oblivious to the merits of remote-working. There are so many "irreplaceable" office-only practices that plague the corporate environment.
