Didn't we know this for a while? MAL had 2nd season airing in July since last year. Especially given the anime trailers showed stuff from arcs beyond what this season was covering.

They either forgot or they just did it because the season ended with that message.

aside from MAL having it mislabled as a second season (causing in imense amount of language confusion on places like reddit) yes yes we did already know this since the series started even.
we really need to make a concerned effort to educate the anime fandom at large on the difference between a cour and a season. because casuals really like using the word season incorrectly and creating alot of misunderstandings.

It's just a reaffirmation of what we already know because many people are STILL asking if it was really the end. Part 1 also ended on this so might as well post it.

What misunderstandings are those? What are the consequences of describing one as the other?

Even though they didn’t reveal a premiere date, Wakanim French subtitles ended with: “We will meet again this summer.”

Well, even if it was planned, I'd have said that this show was so good there should have been no way it wouldn't get another season or a part 2.

One cour is 3 months and about 12 episodes.
Take so I'm a spider for instance, it is a one season, 2 cour series without break which translates to about 24 continuos episodes..
Second cour will likley be part of v3 to v5. Whilst second season would probably be v6 to at least v8.

Nothing. There are no real consequences for casuals or really anyone, in distinguishing between a cour and a season.
Generally, the technical meaning for a "season" in relation to shows, has to do with production schedules and committee stuff, as split-cour seasons are a still one entity, whereas two different seasons are treated separately.
For anime viewers, this has no real consequence, and educating people on the difference doesn't really change anything.

A cour is a quarter or a year, 13 weeks. A season can be any number of cours, depending on how long it runs. Sometimes a season runs consistently over multiple cours and other times is divided into two cours that have a gap, so they call them part 1 and 2.
I get why people get confused over what's a season and what's a cour. Space Dandy has has 2 cours and was planed to be 26 episodes, yet they are called season 1 and 2. So it makes sense that people see each cour as a season if they don't run without a break.

Nice to have a continuation confirmed (again), but what I'm really looking for is an announcement that its spin-off Roxy Gets Serious will get an anime.

I also speculate that the second cour will air this Summer based on the four Japanese disc releases scheduled for this year. It would be weird to not air on Summer when the last 6 episodes are being released on BD in December 22.

Did I just spoil myself by reading the description of that spin off?

Not sure what you mean by that, but I recommend you give at least the first
Roxy manga a try. #5 has just been released in English.

This is the first thing that pops up when I search for the title on google and was just wondering if that's a plot point later in Mushoku Tensei: Roxy''s life is a lonely one--out of all her tribe, she''s the only one without the power of telepathy. Her days pass in silence, while people speak words she can never hear.
I'm anime only btw.
