Hell Yeah!
Fruits Basket is in the home stretch and it's time for all the plotlines to be tied up nicely!

Look at that visual! One of my favorite things was always the great parallels between Tohru and Akito so this makes me quite happy~
Tho sadly after this season it is time to say goodbye. I hope people make some real great amvs once the anime is complete. I have already seen some great ones and with the third season, they will only get better!

Anyone a guess how many episodes this season will have? How much is left of the source material? I really love Fruits Basket. However between s2 ep 13 to 20 it dragged a lil bit for me. Perhaps it wouldn't feel like that if i can binge watch it lol.

I felt that way about both seasons. The first half was filled with momentum and the second half was basically just treading water until the shock climax. From comments from source readers they made some strange changes in rearranging chapters.

I got the Funimation box set, made to house 5 individual blu-ray volumes. The first four volumes were the 1st and 2nd halves of the first two seasons. So long answer short based on that, assuming Funimation really knew ahead of time--I should think about 12.

If that's true, that means the pacing of 1 cour season 3 will be rushed and some chapters/scenes skipped and I'm concerened.

Can't wait for the final season to smash my heart to pieces all over again just like the manga did.

To properly cover the material, they'll definitely need a 2-cour.

I thought so. The others have been 2-cour.
I am so stoked for this. I love Fruba so much.

Huh, I just checked the Funimation announcement and it didn’t say anything about an April premiere. Only said 2021. Weird.

It looked like there was just enough room for 6 volumes to me, (Three in there now and then the remaining Season 2 Part 2 and two more) but I was also eyeballing it and didn't slip something else in there to see what fit. It was at least something that drew my attention when it says it is to hold the whole collection, but has more than enough room for the first two seasons.
I do like that there is extra space since I don't think there is any doubt about licensing the third season. It bugged me that the limited edition for Hellsing Ultimate ended up being big enough for parts 1-8 but then 9-10 were released on their own and can only sit next to the box.

I'm even for 6 sets. I do believe it'll be like all the others to give it a proper send off. So more likely 24 episodes.

Did a double-check on my box set and--take off the slipcases, and the box set set should actually be able to squeeze in 6 blu-ray volumes, not 5 like it had previously looked to me. So based on that now, yes, the final season should be a full two cours. Sorry for having created a minor confusion!

I'm afraid that season 3 may end up only one cour(ugh) because Fruits Basket remake will have a total of 63 episodes if I heard correctly. Seasons 1 and 2 have 25 episodes, season 3 could have 13 episodes. 50+13 is 63. I'm worried about the pacing in season 3 due to possibly 1 cour. God forbid.

One of the reasons I think it will just be one cour is because the original art for the box set specifically said "designed to fit all five blu-rays" and was changed to "designed to fit your entire collection" after the implied episode count was brought up in the Funi discord. Obviously no one knows for sure until its official, but I feel pretty confident that its one cour. The timeline of events in the last third is a lot more streamlined/faster paced than S1 & 2, so I could see it going either way.
