Imagine if we get Sohoku vs Sannoh anime film. Damn, the feels would come rushing in again.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was something Toei & Inoue wanted to announce last year, as part of Slam Dunk's 30th Anniversary, but the pandemic forced production to halt. Regardless, cool to see something like this happen for the manga that was just recently voted as the #3 top manga in Japan.

Oh, God, finally! It was weird how just about every show that was popular in the '80s and '90s was getting a remake or a sequel but not Slam Dunk, which is still one of Shonen Jump's most popular series ever. I'd love it to be an adaptation of the final match, although we'd be talking about cramming 9 manga volumes in a single movie.

inoues manga dont have average pacing, lots of spreads and great art as oppossed to the crammed panels of your average shounen manga, so i am not too worried about that.

If this isn't some kind of sequel to the manga, I'm not really interested.

Sequel to the anime, you mean?
Manga is good as it is.

I don´t want a compilation made from new footage or a reboot. Make more than one film and finish the fight Toei, well anime.

And make a REAL anime. His best work.

I wonder if they'll go with an all-new voice cast or bring the original seiyuu back. I think Takeshi Kusao and Hikaru Midorikawa can still sound convincingly like teenagers, but I'm not sure Ryotaro Okiayu can find his Mitsui voice again after playing deep-voiced adult characters for decades, and the last time I heard Yoku Shioya's voice, he sounded like an old man. As for Kiyoyuki Yanada, his Akagi never sounded like a teenager anyway.
