Good to hear that the animation has improved. Between that and the fact that we even got a season 3 it seems like Golden Kamuy performed better than expected. Golden Kamuy has been so entertaining that I'm having a hard time waiting for Funimation to begin the dub for this season.

Are we talking about the ursines or the male cast here? An absolutely incredible amount of a fanservice in these episodes, they really just love any excuse to get some beefcake on screen (unsurprising considering the mangaka's background). Not my thing of course, but doesn't interfere with enjoying the show.

Indeed, the animation has improved, and the storytelling is as good as ever.

I'm pretty excited for the dub as well, I'm glad to see GK doing well.

I got a good laugh out of this, thank you. And yes Noda is CLEARLY about what he's about when it comes to fan service.

Couldn't agree more.

I was really surprised by the Russian, it sounded really fluent. I am curious were they seperate VAs for the Russian parts, or was there a linguist or something to train them? I'm curious how they went about that all

There is no separate VA for Tsukishima's Russian, the Russian characters are all voiced by Japanese VAs and there is a credited Russian language supervisor (Eugenio Uzhinin). As a native speaker I can note that, ironically, Tsukishima's Russian is by far the best in the show, at least intonation-wise. His intonation is somewhat exaggerated and theatrical, but not entirely unnatural, unlike that of the "Russian" characters, which is almost uniformly laughably bad.
Edit: spelling

As someone who also has a background in Russian language, this echoes my thoughts as well.

Quote: | The animation has been excellent throughout and it was honestly almost shocking to see non-CG bears. I recall way back when season one dropped, a number of folks were dragging the bear sequences. I'm glad to see bears that actually match the visual language of the show |
And it's not just that that's improved, I noticed going from season 1 to 2 that the background art looked way better and more natural, and I'm glad season 3 has kept it up. It will hard to go back and rewatch season 1.
Did anyone find it weird when they got out of the ice. You've got half a dozen naked grown men, with two children watching them. And the girl wasn't even phased by it, she just started a conversation with the boy like nothing had happened.

Episode 4
My favorite bit at the circus was Tanigaki crying outside the tent after every rehearsal. He’s braved war, wild animals and the elements, but a dance routine brings him down. Too funny!

Two things... It's the Uilta, not the Ulita, and it's Yuusaku, no Yuusaka. Proofreading is your friend.

The actual assassins of Tsar Alexander II were captured, tried, and executed. Toss Kiroranke and Aca's involvement into the same ahistorical bin occupied by the remarkably resilient Hijikata Toshizou.

Also I thought the image of Kiroranke in St. Petersburg made him look a lot older than fifteen,.

His name is Yuusaku and he's not Ogata's friend, he's his brother.

Sugimoto didn't leave a picture of Asripa with the Russian couple, he left a rather awkward looking picture of himself.

Good point, the backgrounds have been substantially better.
Hey, I think she just realizes she's in Golden Kamuy and these sorts of displays are to be expected.

This is because Tanigaki is, scientifically speaking, The Best.

Anecdotal I know, but in my friend groups the Venn diagram of "people who like Jojo's" and "people who like Golden Kamuy" is a circle.

Good catches, I've amended those spellings in the articles now. The past few weeks have been... a lot, due to real life events. It has been an effort tog et the articles done at all, and I haven't proofread like I would normally.

I thought Kiroranke looked surprisingly old in the flashbacks too but just assumed he was older than I thought he was.

Good catches, I've amended the original article. Again, real life has bene a lot the past 2-3 weeks, though I'm kind of amazed I totally missed that Yuusaku was Ogata's half brother.

Thanks, I've amended the original article. As I've said, this was not a good month for me, but again kind of confused as to how I messed this up.
