The Series S price point is really enticing...the only thing keeping me from being sold is waiting to hear the PS5 price points. Also, the lack of exclusives on the xbox really makes me wonder why i would buy it over just getting game pass on pc and building a nice pc to play them. But for sure if the PS5 price is too high it might be a consideration.

And anyone who actually owns physical media. Don't know why Heidi relegates the Series X like that & acts like anyone who owns an Xbox One never bought anything as a physical release. Unless the Series S adds in 360 HD DVD Player support to act as a disc drive, the only way for someone to use their physical collection of Xbox One games (plus any BC 360 & OG Xbox games) is to use the Series X. I think the Series S looks cool & is a good cheaper alternative for going into the next generation, but since I actually have a collection of physical games I'll be going with the Series X, which I was already planning to do so instead of the PS5 anyway because I can literally just replace by Xbox One S with the Series X.
Well, there is the "Chapter 2" segment about Ryo on the ship ride to Hong Kong, which was only ever told via a comic that (I believe) was included in Shenmue II as an extra, but I highly doubt anyone ever bothered to read, since no one actually talks about it. If the anime is adapting both I & II, then it might as well also adapt the comic midquel. |

Ah, another giga leak. It's fascinating just how well Nintendo archives their code, even stuff that never makes it into the final versions of games. Anyway:
-Xbox: Eh, not touching it until the Series X gets cheaper. I have a ton of discs of previous gen XBox titles so the Series S actually makes things LESS convenient for me. Furthermore, considering how games will HAVE to be developed for the weaker iteration anyway I really don't get why they didn't just find a middle ground. It really comes off as MS wanting to have their cake and eat it. It just shows that this "power" obsession the hardware snobs refuse to give up on despite diminishing returns hitting just gets in the way of making hardware affordable without questionable compromises. This generation is making me nervous and not in a good way. -Mario: Cool, but I do question the scarcity even if it's meant to be an anniversary title. Maybe Nintendo will sell them down the line individually. -Zelda: I always expected there would be a Warriors followup, but I never expected it would be a canon entry and making Breath of the Wild a trilogy. I expect it'll have Warriors mechanic of character having multiple movesets to keep things fresh and possibly some new characters besides Link, Zelda, and the Champions (Impa is clearly in the trailer). I wonder what they'll do to put new spins on things like the bosses and exploration. Overall I'm looking forward to it. -Shenmue: This is a bad idea, possibly even worse than Shenmue 3 -Pocky and Rocky: Neat -Ninja Gaiden: I'm more questioning why they have the Sigma versions. They cut out a lot of the fun stuff, like the dismemberment. I can see Team Ninja wanting to bring the series back with stuff like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta has held the line for stylish action games so this is probably a prelude |

Um the middle ground is simply that developers will be downgrading the resolution from 4k (which uses a ton of computing) to instead be 1080p and 1440p. Not a bad tradeoff. Watch their tech video developers shouldn't have much problems with the series s. |

My husband and I talked about this yesterday. While the Series S is, technically, just fine for him since he can't tell the difference/doesn't care about 4K gaming and the like (space can be an issue, but looks like you can upgrade the storage with externals from what I've read), we need to get the Series X because of his large physical collection. That, and our connection just isn't strong enough to be downloading a bunch of games either. Physicals are far easier to play for that reason, with him occasionally connecting online to download updates. I appreciate the Series S for what it is and it would've been perfect for him if it had the ability to play discs, but yeah... it's going to be a pass for us. |

Yeah, that's the thing that bugs me; teraflops and 4K are ultimately a bunch of numbers that I don't really care about. The Series S not having a disc drive is a gigantic problem, especially since one thing that MS likes to tout is the XBox's extensive backwards compatibility (which is a big selling point). I'm not going to rebuy my library just because MS couldn't find a way to lower costs in some other way than getting rid of the disc drive. And that's before getting into how internet isn't universally good even in urban areas. It's just kind of confusing |

I'd like to play some of those Mario games, but there's no way I'm putting myself through the Nintendo scalper hell I've seen people go through with amiibos.
I played 3D World with three friends on the WiiU once, and it was the single most miserable coop experience I have ever had. Every mechanic related to the coop from the way characters bounce off each other to the way scrolling works is designed to make it a dull meat grinder for anyone who isn't already intimately familiar with Mario mechanics. It's probably better single player, but my four hours with it were so awful that I doubt I'll ever give it another shot.
I seem to be the only person who thinks that 2 was easily the best one. Having played the PS3 versions of all three, the first game is spoiled by the complete absence of tutorials for multiple core combat mechanics and a camera so bad that certain boss fights feel more luck-based than anything. The second game was much easier to follow visually due to its brighter color pallet, and had a much better checkpoint system (the first game has only manual saves) that periodically refills your health during a level. The absence of the latter in the first and third games means that it's easy to get into a situation where you've reached a boss or other difficult encounter with too little health and have to either learn to execute the rest of the level perfectly or restart the level from the beginning and hopefully do better now that you know what's coming. It just adds a time tax and makes clearing encounters sub-optimally a secret failure state. Let's also not forget the first game's controls: moves like the flying swallow require you to be pointing the stick exactly toward an enemy with an unreasonable degree of precision, while the second game lets you point the stick in any direction to do the move and just miss if you aimed it wrong (the way every other character action game does it). The bullshit in 3 goes without saying. |

Sunshine was beloved? Seem to vaguely remember a lot of people shitting on it for not being like Super Mario 64 and having the temerity to have full voice acting, something that we haven't had in a Mario game since.
I mean if we're being fair Streets Of Rage 3 was a divisive game for 1. For two sidescrolling beat em ups were more or less starting to die out towards the middle of that decade, and 3 is selling less than two million copies anything to sneeze about when most games can sell or outright surpass that number?
Because even with some of the changes being made to the Sigma and Razor's Edge versions of 1,2, & 3 those are considered the more definitive versions of those games. Since they added some new stuff while fixing some issues from the original games.
Not really especially if you're one of the people who didn't originally own a Xbox Classic or 360 or bought the digital versions of some of those games originally anyway. It's only going to not make any sense if you're not apart of the millions of gamers who either buy digital exclusively (like most PC gamers) or buy both physical and digital. Sure as some people have mentioned there's the problem of connection and download speeds that have to be addressed on top of many of these games eating up large portions of disk space. But it's not terribly puzzling why they're doing this. |

That's mainly because Microsoft's BC team is putting in the effort to make these games look & play better than they would on their original consoles, not to mention being able to sell them all over again (which requires extra work to get any licenses cleared), and it's been long confirmed that more games are on the horizon once the Series X/S comes out. Also, considering how large the 360's catalog is (over 2,000 games), getting a little over 25% of it (or over 500) playable on the Xbox One already is a really impressive feat.
That's where I see the Series S doing its magic, honestly. There are people who might have stuck with Nintendo and/or Sony & never owned an Xbox console of any sort. In that case, the Series S is a pretty damn good deal, as you still get that next-gen experience (even if it's limited in some ways), you get Game Pass if you're into that, and you even get the ability to play any Xbox One game you might have missed, not to mention a bunch of 360 & OG games, to boot! Meanwhile, the Series X is for those who want the most powerful version immediately and/or those who own physical media. Honestly, I can't see Sony getting anywhere near the Series S's price for the digital-only PS5, since (I believe) Sony's variants are essentially the same console, except one has a disc drive. |

Then I guess I'll either have to wait to play my copy of Alpha Protocol or hope whoever owns the IP which is probably Sega does something with it.....preferably a more polished remake or sequel. |

Digital Foundry actually knew about Series S way back in March during the Series X reveal and kept it a secret for 6 months!

And now we already have all these information about the next-gen Xbox including the retail box - yet Sony still hasn't given Digital Foundry even just a hands-on look of the PS5 Heck, nobody has even seen it in the wild. We don't even have a picture of what it looks in the back. The only thing they've shown is the same old shot from the only reveal back in June. It's almost like they're trying to hide something C'mon Sony, stop being so secretive - give it to some 3rd-party by Tokyo Game Show this month. Otherwise, the way this is going, we'll find out the PS5 price when our cashier scans it on the register But now thanks to MS, there's rumors that Xbox Series X Forced Sony To Slash PS5 Pricing
Though if ya simply just want to save money, it actually makes sense to use Xbox All Access instead of paying upfront, especially if ya don't already have Game Pass Ultimate (which is included with All Access) Xbox Series S: $300 / 24 months = $12.50 per month Game Pass Ultimate = $15 per month Total: $12.50 + $15 = $27.50 per month Xbox All Access = $25 per month Savings = $2.50 per month Xbox Series X: $500 / 24 months = $20.83 per month Game Pass Ultimate = $15 per month Total: $20.83 + $15 = $35.83 per month Xbox All Access = $35 per month Savings = $0.83 per month |

Right? You'd think they could put another NES game or 3 on there considering they're less than a MB in size and it probably has a least a few hundred MBs due to the fact that it probably isn't cost effective to even make something with less storage Can't wait to play more Hyrule Warriors (and it's canon for BotW too boot!), just wish they picked a better release date -_- Would a few weeks earlier have been too much? I was looking forward to the xbox series S (I'm not going to be hooking it up to a 4k tv), but it not having a disc drive kills it for me. I prefer physical and even if I move more into digital next gen, I still have too many physical games I'd want to play using BC.
