Let's go! I'm quite excited for this and hopefully the new staff will give it a refreshing feel.

I enjoyed the first Love Live anime and I even watched the movie when it was showed in theaters. Love Live Sunshine is a frustrating watch and I dropped it midway the first season. It seems like the producers are just milking this franchise. But hey, they gotta have to make money these days!

At the very least, I hope they don't repeat the whole "school shutting down" premise.

I believe Nijigasaki is supposed to be a recently-opened school, so they actually won't be going down that road again. (Which gives it a step over Sunshine right there. And I don't see the characters as being obvious copies of the µ's characters so far, which is another plus.)

You're mixing it up with Superstar, which is the recently announced upcoming project that only has characters and a rough plot outline revealed.
Nijigasaki's story is about recreating a school idol club that used to exist but disbanded.

Another key difference - if they stick to how Nijigasaki has been presented so far - is that there’s more competition within the club. Rather than always performing as a full group, the girls also work solo too. In that sense it may feel a little bit more like Idolmaster than earlier Love Live incarnations - there’s even a “producer”-type character who works as a manager and songwriter for the club members (that’s the player in the game, but she’s in the trailer so she’s going to be in the anime, too).

As opposed to the wonderfully perfect franchises you enjoy, which are all surely ambitious passion projects that aren't made with any kind of monetary profit in mind and always promote individuality amongst their creatives.

I hope that character shipping on this one are not as chaotic as in Love Live Sunshine. Aqours fans are like playing World of Warships out there.

Whoops, guess I did. Ah, well, the important part is that they're not going back to the "save the school" well again.
