Got this news from a friend in Europe this afternoon, and it seems to have bubbled up to Crunchyroll...

Leiji Matsumoto, creator of anime classics like "Captain Harlock" & "Galaxy Express 999", and key designer on the original "Space Battleship Yamato" (a.k.a. "Star Blazers" in the USA) had suffered a stroke while traveling in Italy.

According to the latest news, he has been admitted to Turin Hospital.
