I enjoyed the show a lot but I’m surprised it’s getting a sequel since it seemed to have a complete story. But I guess it must have done really well for TMS and I’m curious to see where they take the story next.

Technically speaking, they only (loosely) adapted their first half of Ashita No Joe. I suppose now we’re going to see future Jose Mendoza.

This is a big but pleasant surprise. I have no idea what a sequel will be about, but I am sure the production team will make a worthwhile second season.

YES! YES! YES! This is definitely an unexpected but very welcome surprise. Megalo Box is imo the best anime in recent years.

I wouldn’t even use the word adapted. More like Megalo Box was inspired by it.

I am interested to see what they do with it since the first season was pretty much a complete story

Yeah, like some other comments in here, I thought the story was pretty complete as it was. So the idea of a sequel surprises me. But I'm not at all against it! Megalobox was a fun and enjoyable watch, and definitely one I will watch again once I get a physical copy. So I really hope the sequel will be just as good.

Interesting. Didn’t expect for this to happen, but I’ll still be anticipating to see what comes next for this series.

This was an unexpected surprise. I really enjoyed Megalo Box, I wonder how the story is going to be, since the series seemed very self contained and it didn't have a sequel hook or anything like that.
By the way, I just remember that the new Netflix anime about futuristic boxing, Levious, is coming out soon. Weirdly enough, in the spanish dub Joe's voice actor is voicing one of the main characters.
