What if Robert Downey Jr. portrays Mega Man?

Continued development.

Sure, I’m sure we’ll see it alongside the live action Voltron series when they found the merch sales and $3 would buy a cup of coffee, the live action Sword Art Online that was going to cast Asian actors as Kirito and Asuna to avoid whitewashing, the live action Youngblood movie, and the live action Robotech movie. All coming soon to a theatre near you.

Just give them a chance. No need to be sarcastic.

Mega Man would be a versatile franchise to make into a Hollywood movie since it could be anything from a brutal Robocop style action movie to a family friendly superhero movie. It will most likely be a family friendly PG superhero movie and Masi Oka does have experience with that type of story.

Article about a Mega Man movie, leading image a picture of a character that's not Mega Man?

(This is tongue-in-cheek. Mostly.)

Detective Pikachu was enjoyable but it's connections as a "video game movie" felt pretty loose to me so I'm still skeptical of video game movies until they can prove themselves on a case by case basis.

From 2012 to 2018, there have been at least two dozen adaptations of anime or games that get announced which just silently vanish in the night. Hell, I’ll list some examples!

Cobra the Space Pirate - Cancelled when the director couldn’t raise enough money because people thought it would be too similar to a little indie film called Guardians of the Galaxy.

Robotech - Everyone from Lawrence Kasdan to Leonardo DiCaprio has tried and failed.

Voltron - Like I said before, Legendary Defender was such a flop with anyone outside of Tumblr that the merch sales and $3 will get you a cup of coffee. Universal quietly killed the film as a result.

Sword Art Online - Optioned In 2016, Netflix allegedly bought the rights last year and...then nothing, despite fairly ambitious plans including an actual virtual reality MMO.

I’m being cynical because 9 times out of 10 someone announces a film, it doesn’t get made. Like how Legendary technically has options on Naruto, My Hero Academia and Gundam and the furthest along any of them got was Gundam hiring a writer. Or Peter Jackson trying to make a Halo film and the unused props being used for District 9 when it never got made.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1662534/

it's already been done.. and it did not do too well. Not sure what makes them think this second attempt will be any better.

And yet somehow Sonic got through to being made. I'd rather MegaMan.

I don't have a horse in the Voltron race but I don't really think the Netflix's series "alleged" failure would've had anything to do with them cancelling a live action movie. Especially as apparently the movie had been in consideration since the middle of last of decade. It's kind of how the Alita movie was in development hell for years but still eventually got made.

Considering the bulk of Sonic's fanbase is American, and he's not that huge in Japan, that's probably why. He may as well be seen as an American franchise at this point with how much Sega Team prioritizes the American market

Doesn't automatically mean that the Mega Man movie will end up in development limbo.

Yeah, that and also Sega seemingly really wanted the movie to fully get off the ground, despite its somewhat troubled development.

Wait, I thought Disney shuttered the project after they bought 20th Century Fox? Confused
Are these sources still valid: Reddit post and Comicbook.com? Has Disney confirmed whether it's back in production?
