I don't know if this is the right forum to post this in (please move if it isn't!), but I'll be taking a vacation to Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto) in early December and would really like your guy's help! I've been to Japan a number of times for both business and pleasure in the past already so I'm familiar with all the old favorites like Akihabara and Nakano. I've even done my fair share of pillgramages as well (Haruhi, K-ON!, Lucky Star, Digimon, etc...)
However, as I haven't been keeping up with the news as of late, I would love to find out if there are any anime-related limited events or exhibitions during that time that I could check out. For instance, on my previous trip, I managed to pay a visit to Wonderfest and the Madogatari exhibition and enjoyed them both immensely. Another thing I'd love to find out more of are animation museums and anime studio/franchise-specific shops. I already plan to visit the Toei Anime Museum and patronize stores like the PreCure Store, Evangelion Store and Noitamina Store. Are there any more that I can visit? Five anime studios (WIT Studio, MAPPA, Gllizry, CloverWorks and Comix Wave Films) will hold the 'Anime Studio Meeting Vol.2' event from November 2 to December 8 at Tokyo Anime Center in DNP Plaza in Ichigaya (Closed on Tuesdays). Try Tokyo Big Sight. Lots of anime-themed events are held there. There are also tons of maid cafes and casinos in Akihabara.
