Is the soundtrack so bad that they have to use music genres that COMPLETELY don't match the movie?

If it's a Legendary Pictures, yes. Very likely.
At least it's not the trailer with the Warner "Wizard of Oz" shill-plugs and Over the Rainbow...WTH was up with THAT?? Confused

Hey if Face-Off can have SOTR play during a shoot-out sequence which also features people getting wounded, Godzilla can have it too even in the trailer Razz

Yes, but WOz also happens to be one of Warner's seven current "Auditionees", as they're going back through their fan-cult titles to see which one they can exploit for a new franchise, now that Harry Potter, LOTR and Batman have had it.
That's why we've been seeing proverbial you-know-what-loads of Beetlejuice, Willy Wonka, Space Jam, The Matrix and A Christmas Story in Warner marketing lately. (Oh, and they tried Blade Runner, it didn't work.)

It's not the first time Warner's tried to "subliminally" viral a few studio hits into a completely different movie--Remember all those Phantom of the Opera jokes inserted into "Gremlins 2", when they thought they'd get the Broadway movie the next year?

It fits to me given the way they present some of the kaiju in the trailer. Godzilla is shown as an awe-inspiring, majestic creature and Mothra is shown in a beautiful and calming manner as the girl pets her. Given the way the mother seems happy to witness such a sight, and of course we knew from the previous film how Ken Watanabe respects these creatures, it fits to have a song talking about dreams coming true as these characters are witnessing creatures that they thought they could only dream of before.

This person gets it. Can't wait for this film.

Historically most Godzilla movies don’t have a dramatic plot besides the last “real” one in 2011. The American versions tend to make it weird, like the one where they made Godzilla a literal t-Rex. They just never get that Godzilla is about the action, not the drama nor the plot. The 2011 one was pretty funny though, especially the antagonist’s 90’s heavy-metal makeover, so I forgive the tradition break. I’ll only give props to the American visual effects, they’re too good.

I care absolutely zero about the film itself after the disaster of the first one (I'm a Gojira fan, so I'm really upset about it), but to be honest, that trailer was absolutely pure art. Same with the first trailer. Gimme moooooore!

Don't recall T-Rexes having long arms that look like they can grab things with, spines, or being able to swim, or reproducing A-Sexually.

Oh so why have Godzilla die in Godzilla vs Destroyah if that wasn't meant to invoke drama?

nor the plot.

Which is part of the reason for why the Toho films aren't massively popular around the world. If you're going to make a movie, tv show, or even a book it has to have a plot worth following otherwise there's little point to following the material
