1st to post (for once)!!
I'm surprised, considering the criticism. Well, if I had the $ I would've pre-ordered it. Oh well for me. |

Not buying unless Funimation does something about the cropping, the grain removal that removes actual details and makes the art looked smeared and if they tells us that the original sub is no longer in mono.

Well seeing as how they reached their goal, I don't think they'll be missing the money much. |

So I'm a bit confused. I thought the reason for cropping is to convert it into wide screen format. If this is the original 4:3 ratio, then what would be the reason for cropping it? |

People will buy these out regardless of quality.

The cropping is negligible, it looks like only episode 1 got it rough based on the screenshots Funimation responded with.
The DNR is the big issue. |

Well, this just proves that Funimation knows their audience. 3000 pre-orders for an anime cannot be ignored.
No matter what anybody thinks about it, Funimation has made their money and this is a done deal. |

Pretty much. I didn't pre-order (because I have Kai, why would I do that?), but I feel a lot of the people who were complaining (while having valid complaints) werent really going to buy it anyway even if the video was perfect. |

Nothing special in knowing that releasing a DBZ set of any kind will sell more than 3,000. It's almost a given. This set would've sold 6,000 and been in shortage had it been a proper release. |

I'm not. Dragonball is a consistent seller, and there have been worse releases than this one. Most people just simply don't care about cropping, color balance, or smearing. |

Fans need to demand better. We know Funimation can do better than this.

As someone who has the orange box things were it is croped horribly id have payed the cash for a bluray release that had no croping..... The grain i could care less about but the croping yea no. |

I think it's less fans fault and more FUNi reading the wrong lines and just being incompetent. If this flopped and didn't do well, instead of thinking that maybe they shouldn't DNR to hell the image they'd just think oh 4x3 it didn't sell again therefore we will never sell or market 4x3 DBZ again. Fans are in a no win situation I think. |

It's both. Funi doesn't see anything wrong since the people complaining were a minority who didn't affect the sales since they made pre-orders. If no one bought the set or their pre-order goal wasn't met, they would have been more inclined to listen to concerns. |
