Is this the fastest announcement for a new series to get an anime from WSJ?

Forget that... this beats Teekyu as the (supposed) fastest anime adaption ever. It's only been a little over three months!

Series must be doing really well to get an anime adaptation that fast! I didn't realize it was so well-received, but I did like what I read of it in Jump.

The Jump Start for this was... not very good. Granted, I would probably enjoy it much more if I had regional knowledge as that seems to be the brunt of it.

honestly it's probably too soon to even know if it's selling well - the series barely has a volume's worth of material at this point. My guess is between the very short turn around and unexpected announcement this is likely to be shorts meant to advertise various prefectures on the cheap.

What about the weekly rankings? Those are also important in determining success as well.

The article says it's a tv series...wouldn't they specify if it was a series of shorts? But I do agree that it likely got greenlit because it's good promotion for the various prefectures.

There have been cases where we haven't found out if a series is full-length or shorts until the time-slot got announced.

"weekly rankings" aren't really a thing. It's kind of a half-truth that the TOC is actually a ranking. While new series consistently showing up in the front half of the magazine coincides with them not getting cancelled, it's not like, an actual ranking from most to least votes. Which is why stuff that was in the back end of the magazine for weeks can still stick around. FTR this series has mainly been in the middle-to-back section though, which again makes me think this probably wasn't a move made by some crazy out-of-the-gate popularity
