I found this and thought it would be cool to see the answers of different One Piece fans and discuss them. Very Happy

As for me... I have quite a few answers, though I feel only #4 needs detail.

1. When did you first watch One Piece? 2004 with the 4kids dub.

2. How did you find out about One Piece? Caught it on Fox Box with the 4kids dub.

3. What got me hooked on the show? I thought Zoro was cool so I kept watching. I'd say the dramatic stakes of the Kuro arc hooked me.

4. Favorite Straw Hat? Why? Usopp.

Now, it’s not rare to like or even love Usopp. Hell, it’s not even rare for Usopp to be a person’s favorite Straw Hat Pirate these days. But whenever someone tells me that they like Usopp, it’s always with the statement of “I didn’t care for him at first, but then…” and they tell me the moment fairly late in the series that made them love Usopp. Whether it was getting up from Mr.4′s skull crushing attack out of pure loyalty and respect for his captain and best friend, standing up to God Eneru in order to protect Nami, his emotional decision to leave the crew and give Luffy the fight of his life, or even standing up the Rob Lucci and screaming to Luffy to stand up and fight, showing not an ounce of fear against the most powerful enemy the crew has faced thus far (not counting Aokiji and Mihawk of course), there’s always the pretense of that person having disliked Usopp at first.

To these people, early on, Usopp was a poorly designed, irritating, cowardly, weak character who ran away from fights and kept the village on edge with his lies. To most people, Usopp was never truly appreciated until at least the Arlong arc.

I have to say, throughout the Syrup Village arc, I’ve never seen Usopp as an annoying coward. Weak? Absolutely. But what I saw was a scrawny young man with nothing but a slingshot, trying and failing to warn his home village of an oncoming invasion by pirates. This is the man who, even without Luffy, would have tried to fight off the Black Cat Pirates all on his own in order to protect the people who doubted his warnings. He even assured his crew of small children that the oncoming pirate invasion was just another lie in order to keep them safe.

This is the same person who told fictitious stories to an ill girl in order to brighten her day, formed a pirate crew out of village children and played games with them, and whose first instinct when Luffy’s crew showed up bearing a pirate flag was to try and scare them off through intimidation, not violence. He told the Straw Hat Pirates that he was going to fight against Kuro’s crew with or without them, and frankly, I’m inclined to believe Usopp. Before Luffy and Zoro showed up, Usopp was fighting a losing battle against the Black Cat Pirates, and later into the arc, he attacked Kuro directly after seeing what the man could do. He wasn’t afraid to fight against superior opponents who would have definitely killed him had Luffy’s group not been there.

I think the action that solidifies Usopp’s caring nature most for me in that arc was after the battle. Usopp told his “crew” not to tell the villagers about what happened that day. He wanted them to think of his warnings as just another playful lie so as not to upset their peace of mind. Luffy said it best. Usopp is a thousand times the man Kuro could ever dream of being.

I limited myself to things that I loved about Usopp in his first arc to prove a point. Usopp didn’t “Start off annoying and become a great character.” Usopp started out incredible. I find his appeal to be the same as Spider-Man’s own appeal. Just as Peter Parker was never born destined to become Spider-Man, and simply became great by chance, Usopp was a normal person with ordinary skills. It was the strength of his character that made him extraordinary, and I would sooner praise his actions than Luffy’s. Usopp’s bravery comes from fighting through his fears rather than having none.

In short, Luffy is what legends are made from, people born too great to be considered normal, but Usopp is what a hero is made from. Humble beginnings and personal growth. Luffy is a Kamina, a big bro to look up to. Usopp is a Simon, a brother-in-arms who I feel a close kinship to, and no amount of overwhelming power that other characters have will ever challenge the closeness I feel to this long-nosed goofball. He’s not only my favorite Straw Hat Pirate, but always has been and probably always will be.

Phew! Now back to the questions I can answer at normal length without gushing over my favorite character.

5. Favorite Marine? Why? Garp. He's a cool dude. Not much more to say aside from that he's fun.

6. Favorite Overall character? Why? Uh... Lets not pick Usopp again. I'd say Whitebeard is my favorite non-Straw Hat Pirate. Despite his presence, which emits power at every moment, the kindness in his heart is admirable. Treating his crew and their allies as though they were his own children, calling them sons and daughters, and proving himself by protecting them at all costs, annihilating anyone who hurts them, and dying for them is astonishing.

I won't lie. When Squard stabbed Whitebeard through the chest due to Akainu's manipulation, and Whitebeard's response was to toss his weapon aside, embrace Squard, and simply say "My foolish son. What have they done to you?" I cried a little. This was the moment that showed me Whitebeard was far more than a stock standard badass old guy.

7. Favorite Scene? What makes it special? Saying goodbye to Vivi silently with the X-tattoos. It felt like a series finale-level scene and a beautiful sendoff to two of the best characters in the series. Very Happy

8. Most disliked character? Why? Do the World Nobles count as characters? I feel like the reason why should speak for itself. As for single characters... Hody Jones and Wapol were pretty garbage-tier villains, and pre-timeskip Bellamy was infuriating.

9. Favorite arc? Enies Lobby.

10. Favorite Island? Fishman Island.

11. Favorite Female character? Nico Robin.

12. Favorite Male character? Lets not count Katakuri, Whitebeard, or Usopp again. Uhh... Chopper. Hard for me to watch him without a smile on my face.

13. Favorite Scene? This was already #7, you dumbasses! (talking to the people who made this challenge)

Ugh... lets count a different scene. My SECOND favorite scene is the "jumping into the ocean" at the end of Enies Lobby.

14. Saddest scene? Going Merry's funeral (followed by Pound's death and Robin's flashback).

15. Funniest scene? Uhh... God Usopp was pretty legendary. I'll tentatively pick that.

16. What to do to hook someone to the show? So far just watching it with them has worked on the 3 or 4 friends I've tried it on.

17. Favorite Straw Hat fight?

Straw Hat Pirates vs Oars + Moria.

18. Favorite non-major character fight?

Uh... I'll just assume they mean non-Straw Hat Pirate fight. In that case... Ace vs Blackbeard.

19. Favorite Straw Hat Ally?

Tough one. I'll go with Rayleigh. Cool old dude.

20. Favorite Opening Song? Fight Together.

21. Favorite Ending Song? Dear Friend.

22. Favorite Devil Fruit? Uh... tough one. I'll go with Marco's as of yet unnamed Phoenix fruit.

23. Favorite Devil Fruit type? Paramecia is the most varied one, so that.

24. Favorite Jolly Roger? Usopp Pirate Flag.

25. Least Favorite Arc? Dressrosa or Post-War. Don't hate them. Just like the others more.

26. Favorite Straw Hat Sibling? What kind of question is this? Only three have siblings, and Sanji's siblings are horribly unlikable except Reiju.

I guess I'll have to go with Nojiko.

27. Favorite Straw Hat Parent? Doctor Hiruluk.

28. Favorite D? Um... probably Luffy.

29. Favorite One Piece species? Kung-Fu Dugongs.

30. Favorite thing about One Piece? The themes of finding family from people you meet out in the world and becoming closer to them than you ever dreamed, and doing everything to protect those people.

Boom. Done in less than 20 minutes. That was fun.
