Kinda disappointed in the main character designs ( as in the main 3 boys ). They all look super young and no one really stands out im o. i think so far the characters with the best designs are Sara and Reo. I hope the last 2 trailers reveal older versi ons of reo and mabu like i been hoping.

Also hoping this isn't just a cool looking slice of life anime when all of ikuharas previous anime had cool concepts. dont dissapoint me ikuhara. Yuri Kuma was bad enough

Given all previous trailers and the very ominous voiceovers of them (plus what we know about Ikuhara), I really don't think you have to worry about "slice of life". I'm not surprised Ikuhara choose moeblobs for his boy designs though, the MCs of his shows are always young, and Sarazanmai is no different. (Generally they are 14 year old girls)

I mean, "Ikuhara's take on slice of life" would end up being really nuts anyway, so I'd still end up enjoying it. (What I'm saying is that I'm a shameless Ikuhara fangirl.) But for reals, every Ikuhara show has had some level of subversion and trickery, so you should expect the beginning of the show to not be indicative of its truth already. (As with arc 1 of Utena, half of Penguindrum and the first 3 episodes of YKA.)

Generally? He hasn't really made that many anime so the reference pool is small, but in Mawaru Penguindrum the two brothers arguably shared the protagonist role with the main girl since they're the ones that really drove the plot and they looked older than these 3 boys. 16 at the oldest. And was Utena really 14? She didn't look like it.

Also, the only one that looks like a moeblob is the boy with glasses. The main boy ( Kazuki is his name apparently ) looks like a generic anime boy and the second boy just looks like an emo-er Yurio with freckles. They just look young.

Yeah. I've seen every original Ikuhara anime. So im probably either paranoid or misreading the tone. Outside of the aesthetics, symbolism and designs, i really didn't enjoy Yuri Kuma so I'm hoping this one will be better. The actual PVs are just different from the tone of the original PV with suwabes narration.

How old do you think the boys are? They look high school age to me, just like every other ikuhara show.

So this is Ikuhara's new project. Looks interesting. Well, at least he's still going strong.

I thought Ikuhara handled slice-of-life well on his Sailor Moon work, so I'm not worried if that's what it ends up being. But knowing Ikuhara, I'm sure things aren't as simple as they seem.

In any case, I really like the theme of connections he's going for this time around. And during the glasses boy segment, was that a kappa I saw? It was only there for a brief moment, but if it was, I'm guessing that's Ikuhara's trademark animal mascot for this series.

I have no doubt that Ikuhara can pull slice-of-life off well. It's if he has any subjects that he wants to explore that haven't been already well-covered by Utena or Penguindrum. Retreading was the big problem with Yuri Kuma as good as it still was.
