Boo, I've been looking forward to this. Although that's probably misplaced hope.

Smart decision, now it doesn't have to compete with Aquaman as it would have been the exact same weekend.

February is usually a cinematic death slot but the alternative would be competing with Aquaman, which would trounce it.

Geez, just normalize her bug eyes if they are the ones causing the delays.

Looks like Big-eyed Angel Alita might never see the light of day. Seems like it is entering release limbo. If the date slips again, that'll probably be it.

Oh, come on! This delay feels even worse for those of us waiting for this project since the '90s.

On the other hand, "Deadpool" was released on Valentine's Day weekend. Some people say "Dump Month," I say "Month With Nothing Better Out." |

Now it doesn’t have to compete with Aquaman and Bumblebee coming out the same weekend. Deadpool and Black Panther came out in Feb, so it’s not as much of a death slot as it used to be.

With how crowded the cinematic space has gotten since super hero and big event movies have become the new normal, the idea of there being a "dump month" is slowly starting to fade away. Since Deadpool cleaned up on Valentines day two years ago, February has become super viable. After all, just last February Black Panther cleaned up as a February release. If they had moved Ailita to January, only then might I have thought they had lost faith in it, but the move to February is smart. It was competing against A LOT of other movies during it's December slot that have better name recognition, and it would have been slaughtered at the box office. A move to February gives it a chance to gain an audience and earn some money. |

Well, it may be dodging the death match against Aquaman, Mary Poppins, Bumblebee, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Mortal Engines and Welcome to Marwen but its going up against in a two weeks battle with Dark Phoenix, The LEGO Movie 2, Instant Family and How To Train Your Dragon.

According to Deadline.com, Alita is being bumped for what sounds like a PG-13 re-edit of Deadpool 2 on December 21. Source: 'Deadpool 2' Gets PG-13 Christmas Re-release
The article also mentions Alita was pushed back to coincide with Chinese New Year and has nothing to do with post-production. |

Dark Phoenix got pushed back, and I betcha that gave them a green light. |

Damn... again...
At least now I only have two films I have a care of seeing in the theaters at Christmas (Bumblebee & Into the Spider-verse) instead of three. And it would of been a toss-up between Alita & Bee as to what to see first. Though it might actually be cool to see Alita that weekend for me. IIRC I'm attending a Sci-fi con that weekend. Seeing the film-post con might be worth it. |

On one hand, movies usually go to February to die, but on the other hand, Deadpool came out in February.
Still, as a Transformers fan, this does give the Bumblebee movie a better chance. |
