So many ports! But why not VIII? Or VI, for that matter.

And do I really need to buy more copies of VII, IX, X and XII?

Er, well. Yes. I suppose I do.

What is ""leveled up" version"? How is World of Final Fantasy Maxima different from the 2016 PS4/vita version? I must know...

They've been available for iOS for years, probably Android too.

Weird to see FF VIII excluded from the party though. What's up with that?

Yea...WTH. That's my favorite FF, Squall = the best FF protagonist. I'll buy the rest, but pretty disappointed with this seeing how they could just of excluded FF7 instead since they are already working on a remake for that.

Why are they porting the Pocket Edition to the Switch? Why not the original game?

VIII hasn't been given any sort of updated re-release yet, simply put. To this day, you either play it on the PS1 (or PS3/PSP/Vita via the digital version) or you get the old PC version. VIII has remained a bit of a black sheep throughout the years, so I guess Square-Enix hasn't seen giving it a semi-remastered re-release, ala VII or IX, to be a priority yet.

Personally, I already have VIII, IX, X/X-2 & XII on PS4, so I won't be in any rush to grab the Switch versions. It's outstanding to see happen, though.

I imagine it's because the Switch's hardware can't handle the normal version of the game. It's barely stronger than the PS3 was, and that's hardware from over 12 years ago.

Wishful thinking, but I'm hoping for a remake of FFVIII. Little hope since it was excluded here.

Not true. FFVIII on Steam is just as “remastered” of a port as FFVII and FFIX: gamepad support, achievement support, and support for modern HD resolutions and aspect ratios.

I don't get why some people still get baffled when 8 is not associated to the big classic hits such as 7 and 9.

It's really very simple. It's not a fan-favorite title.

i freaking LOVE 9, and i wish there was a remaster of it (NOT remake), but why 7??? who the heck is going to play FF7 (besides fanboys) for how terrible it looks???? anything higher than 7 has graphics that can be interesting at best to the younger generation, but 7 is disastrous. plus there's the remake so....
