The full frontal nudity that was promised a decade ago came to be, that´s my big takeaway.
The new eps. look really good of course, but the trailer´s editing was a mess. A big porblem with Netflix in general. The trailers for Luke Cage S02 made the content look abysmal, yet the actual season was one of the best crime dramas i ever saw. Put more money into your marketing Netflix!

I appreciate them trying this series, and I think it will ultimately add to other factors pushing Konami toward dipping their toes into another Castlevania video game, but I just haven't been able to fully get behind this show. Maybe it's just the trailer in this latest case, but I'm getting more Lords of Shadow vibes than Castlevania III vibes (including what looks like a cameo by the LoS version of Cornell). This is more of a messier, shoehorned version of Castlevania into animation than I'd ideally like.
The enemy design in general looks pretty generic in terms of the franchise's broad and signature mythology (outside of a Cyclops, a possible cameo by Slogra, and an apparent cameo by Hector), as does the world design: Where's the elaborate stonework village seen in Level 1 of Dracula's Curse, the thick trees infested with owls from Mad Forest, or the eccentric boggy caves of Murky Marsh that ooze mudmen? The animation and main character design work is solid enough (the main three are really good in particular), but the changes to the story just don't sit well with me...
Grant should join up way before Alucard considering he's at the front line of the conflict with Dracula as a resistance fighter. He's the character that should give the common person's view to Dracula, yet he's nowhere to be seen so far--unless one of the randoms in the trailer turns out to be him. But really, considering he's the first to join Trevor in the games, and he's the least powerful in many ways, it doesn't make as much sense to leave his reveal to this point. Then, Sypha's story is totally mixed up, as is the presentation of the Church. Sypha is a vampire hunter raised and employed by the Church after humans tainted by dark forces persecute her fellow witches and orphan her, and as such, the Church is at war with Dracula. The Church is not supporting Dracula! In fact, it's the Church that seeks out Trevor as a last resort, who is sort of in exile because his clan was considered dangerously powerful.
All that said, maybe the execution of the way they have decided to go will end up better than this trailer. But some of the core Castlevania mythology has been pretty distorted with this series so far, and it didn't have to be. I'm surprised this hasn't been called out more, but I get the impression that Castlevania's history is not particularly well known. That said, little Easter eggs in this trailer suggest there will be some interesting explorations of some of the established mythology, so I'm not completely against this adaptation yet.

LightningCount, stop overthinking it.
This is a re-imagining of the Castlevania III story with elements of other Castlevania games thrown in and quite frankly, it works. You can't expect 100% true to the game accuracy if such direction doesn't translate well to a viewing standard.
As long as the story is coherent, I don't think anyone will really care in the long run.

This
As it's adaptation it's not supposed to be 1 to 1.
