Nice as this was in replicating the song with classical instruments, I can't help thinking of what a person of a century or more ago in Japan would think of this. Being a fan of Kabuki and traditional melodies and comparing to that as a measure of what people liked, I think they would think it exceedingly strange, needlessly busy and not very enjoyable.

That so made my day--and I'm not even a fan!
But it makes me wonder just why a classically trained master like Kineie-sensei and her fellows would consent to such a performance. I do hope there was an element of sincere, good-natured willingness. Can anyone out there give a little insight? |

I was thinking of rock groups covering older songs. The most obvious that comes to mind is Blue Moon by the Marcels
|
