I knew that Citrus is gonna bombed so bad. Sad to see it was indeed true all along.. No yuri anime that's gonna save the genre out there? Yaoi has already been on the rise too and I'm not into that.

I've been hearing that due to the production committee structure, disc sales aren't that important. And not to mention considering Crunchyroll co-produced it, streaming numbers could be more important than that. |

Well, thanks for the breather there. I wonder how high the streaming numbers was.

The numbers for Violet Evergarden are actually better than I anticipated. The numbers for Citrus are not good but are not horrible; a second season is possible if Crunchyroll again co-produces.

Crunchyroll was co producing for Laid back camp and A place further from the universe, and they did pretty well. I wonder if there will be more.

I wonder how being on Netflix in Japan affects disc sales over there? You'd think a decent amount of the fanbase would have Netflix subscriptions, which might be a disincentive from buying the discs since you can just watch it on Netflix any time.

Do you have any source for that? |

An anime-original serial drama about a bunch of girls who go to Antarctica without so much as a single panty shot between them spending two weeks in the top 10 sure is something.

They are tagged as such on Crunchyroll. Also, Hideyuki Saida (斉田秀之), one of Crunchyroll's producers, is one of the people credited with planning (企画) on both titles. |

Thanks for that. I assume this means that Crunchyroll is planning a physical release; I want a BD copy of that show. |

For an original anime, the overall sales for "A Place Further Than the Universe" vol. 1 are good. This series was among my 3 favorite last season (DiTF and "Pop Team Epic" being the other 2).

It might help if they actually chose a good yuri manga to adapt. I can't be too upset about Citrus bombing even if I want more yuri anime, because it's frankly a pretty creepy show and I wouldn't want it to be a big hit and set a precedent for future yuri they choose to adapt. That being said, Yuri Kuma Arashi was good and it bombed in sales as well. I wish they'd give Kase-san a shot at a full anime. I think it might be able to actually pull off halfway decent sales. |
