For me:
Best Mobile Suit: Epyon. Hands down. Just a sexy freaking suit all around...the colors, the weapons... I recently bought the new Master Grade model Epyon, and am very much looking forwards to building it after I finish with my MG Heavyarms (yeah...I really like Wing!). Best Character: Trowa Barton and Tieria Erde. It's a toss up for me. Trowa has always been my favorite for various reasons, and Tieria I absolutely hated at first, and ended up crying my freaking eyes out when spoiler[he 'died']. Best Theme: Daybreak's Bell by L'arc~en~Ciel (Gundam 00) and RHYTHM EMOTION by TWO-MIX (Wing). Don't make me pick! 
I really want to get more invested in Gundam as a whole, because I feel like my knowledge is pretty limited (I've only seen 4 out the TONS of series out there), and I have loved each one a lot. Unfortunately, I only have so much time and there is SO much anime to be watched nowadays, I feel like I've fallen behind in the Gundam universe. I will strive to do better anime...I really will. Interesting poll though...I wanna know what those 'secret' songs are! |

That's…surprisingly reasonable (so far)? Usually, these polls tend to reek of recent-ism and look questionable, but it's a good mix of older and newer works, not to mention some good tastes in the mix. Maybe the only exception is IBO's Orga being so high (very good and a different type of Gundam character, worthy of a Top 10 spot, but maybe not No. 2).

#2 the Zeta gundam? Above the freaking Sazabi? Above the Kampfer? Above the Sinanju!? Above the Kashatriya?!
Also something is funky is going there, the type 100 mobile suit is barely a thing (it appear in no shows) I don't get why it'd get so high a ranking. |

It's not what the article is talking about, though, as Hyaku-Shiki is Japanese for "Type 100". The design you linked to is an in-joke for old-school Gundam fans included in Newtype Magazine back in 2007. It was drawn by the famous mecha designer Mamoru Nagano, who submitted the original Hyaku-Shiki to Tomino with the intentions of it serving as the show's titular Zeta Gundam (Nagano is very closely connected with Newtype Magazine, as it serializes his The Five Star Stories manga). The story goes that Tomino wanted the Zeta to be a transforming suit, but still liked the Hyaku-Shiki, so they redesigned the whole thing to look a bit less like a Gundam, colored the whole thing gold, and gave it to Char. This is reflected in the 2007 article, which talks about how the "Type 100" was derived from a design that the Federation passed over in favor of the Z Gundam, and how it was given to a "former Zeon ace" after development. (This was all before Nagano and Tomino had their big falling out over a woman, and refused to work with each other until 1998's Brain Powerd.) In order to differentiate the design from the actual Hyaku-Shiki, though, Newtype chose to give the suit's name in English rather than Japanese, which is why it's what comes up when you search google for "Type 100". |

I'm also surprised Orga made it to the top characters. Thinking about it, it is reasonable though.
My personal favorite for MS would be the Zeta. My favorite character would be Harry Ord or Graham Aker. (Yes, I know. I'm weird.) My favorite song would Anna ni Ishodatta ni from Gundam SEED. Kinda surprised seeing the Sazabi beneath the Nu. |
