If it weren't for the scene showing the 02 lot being defeated, Gennai changing his appearance to that of the digimon emperor and T.K and Kari mentioning Ken's name once or twice, you would think the writers have retconned the entire 02 season out of existence given how little focus they have put on the 02 digidestined. I mean you would at least think that by the time of the 3rd movie, T.K and Kari would be getting suspicious of their disappearance, let alone the families of the 02 kids.

The thing I have been wishing for since 2001 or maybe 02, has finally happened? Can we re-write Adventure 02s wikipage as a non-canon spin off, can we have a street parade celebrating this.

But T.K and Kari still have their D3s, so I don't know wtf happened there.

I made a reddit post on this subject in the Digimon subreddit, but the jist of it is that I think Toei was just looking to make a quick buck off of the Digimon franchise, so they hired the cheapest writers and staff they could but didn't expect Tri to become as popular as it was at the beginning. These staff and writers knew next to nothing about Adventure 02 and so they made the smallest references they could in order to maintain the smallest amount of continuity between the three series. The movies were either completely written out at the time of the announcement of Tri or so close to complete that nothing could be changed, so we are left with movies that have plot holes the size of 18-wheelers.
