Going by the title and visual, I guess this might be the Okinawa trip from Vol. 7 of manga? Definitely happy to see more NNB coming.

They already did that in an OVA back in 2014 didn't they?

No, that was just them preparing for the trip, not the trip itself.

The rest of the story after the (first) OVA had previously been done in drama CD form, but it's nice that it'll get the proper animated treatment it deserved.
I presume this means that the eventual western Blu-Ray release of this movie (probably not before 2019) will also have at least the first OVA as a bonus feature, since it directly ties into the story. (The second OVA would be nice too, but that was just 4 short vignettes not tied into the presumed plot of this movie.)

Nice! I would have preferred a full cours, but I'll take what I can get.

I don't read the manga, but is there even enough material for a full cour?

I'm not a hundred percent positive but I think the manga is approaching enough material for another cour.
The English version of the manga is at least two volumes behind the Japanese, and there are already some chapters in previous volumes that were overlooked by the first two seasons (like how Komari and Hotaru spent New Year's) that would make fine episode segments.
I would imagine that, if this movie is successful, a third season or at the very least a few more OVAs would be on the table.

To tell you the truth, I made that statement without even knowing how much source material was available. It just represents a generalized desire on my part for more NNB, regardless of reality...

With this news, Christmas has come (a couple of hours) early!
A pity that we'll have to wait a while to see it, given the simulcast treatment its televised series received.

Well, I'm glad this will have a new season, but c'mon, give Nii-chan a proper seiyuu!

I also gotta wonder if the movie could be a catalyst for the first two seasons of Non Non Biyori to finally get an English dub?
I'm not personally interested in a dub per se but I'd quite possibly double dip for the first season on Blu-Ray just because, since Sentai crammed all 12 episodes onto one Blu-Ray disc, there's a layer switch that freezes my player at a certain point during one of my favourite scenes (the "Art in the Autumn" scene in episode 8) and so I have to skip back a few seconds and then the rest of it plays normally.

Suguru never speaking when he's on screen is perfectly faithful to the original manga, so I doubt he's getting a seiyuu for the movie.
