Wish this series would get an English localization.

Same! While I'm very grateful to the fan-translators for their work on the LN, the first 5 or 6 volumes are rather sub-par. You can comprehend the story no problem, but the quality is low... thankfully, later volumes are better. Being officially translated would certainly increase the appreciation.
I see Blade Dance as a series in the high-tier of action/harem stories, and as a very rare case of having a story both lewd and interesting at the same time. Also has lots of great worldbuilding.

I agree. I didn't take it seriously at first, but the story developments were surprisingly interesting. I kinda realized there have been a number of MF Bunko titles that had this kind of trend too.
No problems about the new artist. They have similar styles after all.
I kinda wonder about the personal circumstances though. Hopefully they're not work-related.

Any work Shimesaba did on vol. 16 seems to have been uncredited, as I can’t find their name anywhere in the book.

I'd love to see the light novels officially translated, and I'd buy them, but I confess that this is one where I found the main girl extremely annoying such that I expect that I'd be cringing through half the story while I tried to get the good parts out of it.

I agree that Claire is quite annoying at first, but I'd say only until before the tournament. After the first 3 volumes, and especially starting Volume 6, Claire develops... a lot. She's become the most developed character in the series and, in my opinion, the best written (still not my favourite girl though).
Besides, while annoying, she has a legit believable reason for having the personality and attitude she got. I prefer that over a cardboard with no personality or thought put into.

That's unfortunate regarding personal circumstances. It would have been funny had Shimizu got the artist for Seiken Tsukai no World Break. lol
