Yeah, I think there was an editing mistake. The poll question at the end of last week's column was, "Who is this season's best hero?" I remember getting a good laugh from Toradora when it kind of lampshaded the "maid cafe" trope by having basically every class in the school doing a maid cafe except the protagonists' class. |

The ohohoho laugh isn't even relegated strictly to ojousama types either. Plenty of regular girls do it too, for one reason or another.

I've seen a couple of "evil oujo-sama" characters in recent shows, but they tend to be more complex than their original incarnations. Diana in Little Witch Academia clearly draws on this tradition, including her adoring followers Hannah and Barbara, but Diana has a lot more depth and grows considerably over the series. Princess Principal introduced such a character in the last episode, along with her two lackeys, but she has deeper motives as well. We haven't seen enough of Lily Gaveston yet to know if she will play a bigger role or not. Lily does get cut down to size by Princess who delivers one of the best lines of dialogue of 2017. spoiler["I thought you were my friend. Maybe I should reconsider?"]

#4 has what appears to be a borderline misleading thumbnail. It took a bit of staring to figure out that there's actually THREE people in that picture, not two. Otherwise the mysterious pair of legs looks like a fall that went HORRIBLY wrong.
