I expect this to never come out, but I'm sure people will get really mad anyway.

![]() And this was announced in the 20th anniversary event? Seriously?! I don't care if it's the status quo, not every concept makes sense in live-action! Oh, I GOTTA hear what the One Piece Podcast crew thinks of this. EDIT: Oh wow! Ed, Steve, and Alex already made and uploaded a special podcast episode dedicated to this! Seriously, is it too much to ask just to say, "NO! I want this to be adapted in animated form only?" Last edited by Hypeathon on Thu Jul 20, 2017 11:26 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Surprising news, but a tv series is much more adapted than a feature movie.
I hope they keep it in a fantasy world and respect the characters personalities and appearances. |

One Piece is waaay too cartoon-y to ever work in live-action without it looking ridiculous. But it probably won't come out for years, if at all.

Just imagining how goofy luffy's power in real life with a pirate setting makes me cringe.

Aside from One Piece being near-intranslateble into live-action, it's also too expensive. One Piece, of course, is a story focused on being at sea. Film crews already spend millions just to shoot a movie in a body of water, since it's much harder to rig cameras and adapt the set. Television shows are given a much smaller budget. This is going to tank, even if it miraculously looks good.

Wow this is cool! I will watch it with my family.
BTW, recently picked up One Piece again. I'm on volume 62! |

Uhm... okay. I cannot imagine how One Piece would translate to live-action. I'm willing to give it a chance even though this already seems like a bad idea from the start.
I'm intrigued nonetheless. |

After seeing how ridiculous CW's Flash and Supergirl can get and look, I honestly think they can pull this off. |

WTF! Can I bet my life savings that not one person in the world expected this to happen with OP, especially by Hollywood? I feel confident.
So this is where you draw the line? |

Luffy's power could work in live action, but I was referring more to the character designs than anything else. I've only read a little of One Piece, but a lot of the character designs are incredibly exaggerated. If you adapt that to live action, you'd either have to give everyone more grounded designs, or attempt to recreate the outlandish designs and look either garish or incredibly freaky. |

Unlike the false Chinese live-action movie news from last year, this is 100% legit.

who asked for this? because there would need to be a lot of CGI for a series like One Piece, I mean the main character has a rubber body for Christs sake
