So enough production time has passed for the Free clones to start making their appearance.

This looks okay at least Confused

Strange how DIVE!!! was made in 2002-2004 yet I never heard anything about it. Did the whole swimming sports thing only become popular when Free!!! was created in 2013? (Free!!! is also probably the only reason why this got an anime too, lets be honest.....)

Other pool sports anime may be materializing more, but I'd argue that Free! started a wave of young-men-playing-sports anime that aren't adapted from shonen manga, air late at night and are specifically aimed at female otaku & fujoshi--Cheer Boys and Yuri on Ice being the most prominent. Setting the sport in the water is too much of an obvious clone for my taste. (what's next? Water polo? Synchronized swimming...please be synchronized swimming! Very Happy)
I'm not interested in Dive!! at all; it'll take a lot of effort for the anime staff to distinguish it from Free! despite its older source material. I feel bad for them...
Just wanted to comment that the band name Qyoto is so pun-tastic it's cute.
