People have different tastes than you, imagine that. But yes, this franchise has...encouraged a sales related to climbing gear and such. Not sure how well the DVD/blu-rays sold but it seemed to accomplish the author's goal of getting people outside.
Pretty much 8-Bit's only decent anime.

Yes! I'd heard 8-Bit was making a sequel to one of their series and this is the one I wanted.

Per Oricon's numbers, Season 1 as a one-disc show sold about 4500 units on its initial release, and another 4600 on a later re-release - over 9000 combined is damn good for a three-minute short series, especially in the slice-of-life category.
Season 2 was released on seven discs and sold about 3350 units per disc, again pretty respectable. No re-release of that one yet AFAIK, though with the new season confirmed, don't be surprised if a box set pops up before the end of the year.
Of course, what we don't see from disc sale numbers are what kind of additional merchandise sales the show has done, how much (if any) of a sales bump the manga got from it, or anything like that. Personally, I'm just hoping this encourages someone to pick it up for a North American Blu-Ray release. I'd be a first-day preorder on that one.

Same for me! In any case, I'm really happy that another season is coming.

HELL, YEAH!
Full episodes would be nice, but I'll take 8 minute episodes too, if that's what it takes.
