Strange that they did not release this last Saturday. You know...the 20th anniversary of the 1st episode of Pocket Monsters.
Oh snap! So it's not exclusive to Pokemon from Kanto. Newer generation Pokemon will be in it. No Kasumi and Takeshi?  That Mezase Pokemon Master got me feeling tingly inside.  Bonjii's hat tho!
The greatest seiyuu of all time continues his PM movie streak.
Don't you mean the voice of Ash?

I thought it was remake so I was really audibly confused when Piplup showed up. Butterfree and Charmander are some of my favourites though. Wasn't expecting Marshadow either since they seem to have a shortage of legendaries/mythicals this time around.

I was glad they made Ash look like his old self again, not that I had any problem with his other designs before S&M, but the other characters with their over kiddy designs don't really match what they did with him.

Wait what? I thought this was meant to be a remastered version of season 1 of the anime. Are we still in Kanto here? I mean look at all of those Pokemon from around the world.
Also I don't like the fact that they're giving Ash new companions. I was hoping to see Brock and Misty again :/ |

If you're planning to watch this just for the nostalgia factor alone, prepare to be disappointed especially once it gets dubbed.

Glad it doesn't seem to be a retread of series 1. Other Pokémon showing up make sense since every generation has had previous generation Pokémon in them and now we have 7 gens makes perfect sense that Kanto shouldn't have only Gen 1 Pokémon.

Seems they are going an alternate dimension storyline route this time around. Sort of okay with that if they pull it off well. Especially if its a variety of other pokemon not Gen 1 that get more spotlight.

I don't think that using either name makes a difference, but to be fair, I don't know how many people voiced Ash, but Matsumoto has made an amazing job of being his only voice in Japanese (?... I don't know, since I don't like Pokémon), so it's only fitting to say Satoshi in this case. |

Piplup and Incineroar's appearances, as well as those of the two new Trainers', made for a nice twist to this film.
Plus, I'm excited to see Marshadow's use of his powers!

This actually looks pretty interesting. I was prepared for an actually retelling, yes, but this looks like it could be a cool alternative.
On another note, I really hope Marshadow is distributed through QR code like Magearna. Moon's is the first Pokedex I've actually managed to complete and I don't want to have anything missing. |

I'm interested in seeing how the changes play out. I was fully expecting Pokémon from later generations being worked in, but I wasn't expecting Kasumi and Takeshi to be replaced with new characters instead. Guess this is the final nail in the coffin as far as seeing Kasumi ever again goes. It's been over ten years since the last time she appeared, during Advanced Generation. (At least, ignoring flashbacks.)

Instead of Kasumi and Takeshi, we get two kids that look like kiddier versions of Cheren and Bell? And instead of Hikari, we get another Piplup/Pochama trainer? If that doesn't evolve...

Some people are predicting they are the new protagonists for a Gen IV remake, but I have my doubts they would get rid of Hikari given her popularity.

I guess they already did Origins but I kind of wish they didn't and have had this movie dedicated to the Gen 1 game story. Origins they missed all the cool stuff and concentrated on the boring stuff.
