As a fan of glasses girl, of course the first thing I did after reading this news was going to the source link to search more info. Managed to find one youtube clip, you can watch it here.

I wish they had Miku instead, make that 39news (by Mitchie M) a reality.

I wouldn't be able to stand listening to that high-pitched voice for very long when she's not singing.

The program converts a news manuscript into spoken word and then delivers the information via a CG model while making sure her vocal delivery and expressions are natural.

That is quite an aspiration, surely. How has text-to-speech technology been developing recently? I cannot imagine it is yet at a point as to mimic the delivery of a formal newscast without the occasional hiccup.

That is pretty much the point of the test of the target audience would accept a text to speech caster or if the concept simply is "too soon".

Glasses girls are the best, especially this one, and that hand wave at the end......damn that turns me on.

I guess it would depend on not just delivery, but what she is reporting. If fluff or small news pieces, I think the audience would be for her. Not sure if much serious or heavy news would be acceptable or people rather have a real person for those.

I wonder if she covers "fake news". It would make sense since she is fake.

Like as in The Daily Show? You'd need good comedic timing for that, something that computers can't do. If they could pull it off though, that'd be excellent, as I can't take seriously the concept of artificial news anchors.
