If Vita means life then Wii U means death.

I've backed the game, and decided to get a PC and WiiU version of the game. With that said, I'm disappointed, but it was expected. At the time when the Kickstarter was happening, the Switch (then called NX) was either announced or being rumored, and given the original release date, the WiiU would have been on its last legs.
Would I have still wanted a Wii U version? Yes, but for a different reason. Armature took on the challenge of porting this Unreal Engine 4 game onto a system that didn't even support it, and would have liked to have seen the results.

A number of whom likely own the other platforms for which the game is also coming to.

Yeah its rather unfortunate for those several dozen people who happen own a Wii U and nothing else.
I'm not surprised they cancelled it, the Wii U is a dead console that is no longer even manufactured or supported by Nintendo. It's disappointing that it was a failure since it had a lot a potential but it is what it is.

is porting it over really that difficult?
i can understand it not being easy to go from say sony to xbox or nintendo to sony but if theyre changing wii U to switch cant they still develop for the wii U?
Nonetheless im surprised to hear that the wiiU is 'dying' i was under the impression that it was doing well, at least not nearly as bad as the vita

To preface this, I'm a proud WiiU owner who has no regrets about buying the system, but how in the HELL could you be surprised to hear the WiiU is dying? My friend, it's dead, and has been for a very long time now.

Lmao to be perfectly honest I have a love hate thing going on with Nintendo, as in I love a few titles they make (Metroid, fire emblem, certain pokemon games, smash bros) but hate other things so unless it's news about something related to the above I usually just ignore it. To further demonstrate my willful ignorance I found out 2 weeks ago from a trailer I was watching at a movie theater that the Nintendo switch was a portable console with a built in screen that pops out. All my friend thought I was faking it for attention. Sadly I was not.

The main thing here is that Unreal Engine 4 is not supported on the WiiU (and the Vita, I think), so Armature was basically on their own when trying to port it to that system. But a recent update to the engine has given official support for the Switch. So with the torch passed on from the Wii U to the Switch, and official support from UE4...yeah. Heartbreaking, but understandable.
