Nice column! The 1st Quarter bit was quite amusing, as fictitious as it was, in terms of the location.
...Right?
Also, I'd like to mention that the new Basilisk episode is just a repeat of episode 1, and not Episode 25, as Basilisk only has 24 episodes.

I love it how you can put a spin on such mundane things like reruns or telephone calls, which likely involved more conversing about politics than beer fights!

Yeah, I was wondering why there was was a 25th episode of Basilisk posted on the listings...X-P.
Also, IFC Canada is showing a bit of anime this coming week (and a 12 hour marathon on New Years) - anyways, Metropolis will be playing Wednesday at 11:45 PM EST, and then Blood: The Last Vampire/Kai Doh Maru on Thursday starting at 8:30 PM EST.
Metropolis repeats twice on Thursday, and Blood/Kai have a second showing later that night as well.

Seeing as how I RARELY watch IFC, I was shocked to see this. Now I just gotta get my DVD Recorder set to record these shows. thanks a bunch for the heads up.

Sorry to dash your hopes, but, if you read a bit closer, this is for IFC Canada. You won't find those aforementioned anime (among others) in the US (though in case you didn't know, the US IFC is getting Basilisk in January...).

I love the little faux episode titles you gave to each quarter. They sounded just like episode titles on Naruto.
It's a shame most of the anime on TV these days isn't as entertaining as this column.

Byzantium isn't a biblical name, actually. It was a greek colony in Turkey, which eventually became Constantinople, capital of the Eastern Roman Empire and later capital of the Byzantine Empire which laster for over 1000 years. It was conquored by the Ottoman Turks in the 1400s and re-named to Istanbul, the name it still holds as the capital of Turkey today.
Clearly they just re-named it to Byzantium in Trinity Blood to go with the classical feel!
All this in response to that one little sentance in the Trinity Blood section about the name Byzantium. But I couldn't help myself.

Err, no.
Ankara is the capital of Turkey. Istanbul is still teh kewlest, though, with the best Football team in Turkey and all that. Also, I have some suspicions that he kind of know where the name came from already.
Lovely column! And funny recount that. *gets back to watching reruns of Appleseed and Steamboy : P*

Great article this week Brian!
But for some reason, you might have not numbered some episodes for this week. (wonders.)
Anyways, thanks for keeping me and the anime fans up-to-date, and that phone call to Anwserman himself, was almost funny, to say the least.
Well, see yas! (get back to his couch and watches this weeks broadcast of MCK.)

Same here. I love writing things like that, but it's not only Naruto, of course. Pretty much any shounen anime, at least, does the same thing. I love it, though.
And no more new Bleach episodes in the US until January after this one, because of the airing of Inuyasha movie 4 next week, followed by reruns of the third and second movies, and then a Bleach marathon of episodes 1 - 14 on December 30.
As a side note, the Naruto anime finally passed the Naruto manga for me. My newest Shonen Jump issue is December 2006, so anyone with the January 2007 issue is probably still slightly ahead of the anime, maybe by less than a single episode, but it will still be interesting to see how manga sales will be affected by the anime passing the manga in the story.
