Hopefully this time they'll let the girls characters shine through (the best parts of the first season) and much (preferably no) less singing the praises of μ's. I also hope the insert songs are actual in-world performances rather than music videos that feel like they were air dropped in to pad out the episode length this time around.
Sunshine could have been so good had it stuck with what worked so well in the original, all the elements were there, instead it barely rose above mediocre.

I literally had the tweet ready right before they announced it.
It was a really great concert. Not as amazing as the monster 2 day 5 hour set that μ's did at the Final Love Live but I'm amazed they're able to perform at a level like that so early. I mean, μ's sure as hell wasn't this good at their first concert.
While I do like the original more overall (Season 2 being my favourite part of the entire series) I thought the first season of Sunshine was a pretty good deal better than the first season of the original. So I'm really looking forward to see where we go from here.

I don't know. I really enjoyed the first series that worked out its structure and character groupings as it went but ... well, what I've seen of it, all two episodes... structures itself after the first series in form and intent.
"We have to have nine members because Muse had nine members."
No you don't.
"We want to be school idols because Muse were school idols."
No school saving plot line, no bets or wagers, not even a "I want to be a school idol" like Nico, just "We wanna be like Muse." The only way they couldn't be more blatant in trying to repeat the first series if they called the series Love Live Repeat.
Sure it was a hit but I can't really call it anything other than creatively bankrupt, worse than your Soul Eater Not or WWW.Working. Equally worse?

As inevitable as it is unnecessary. Gotta keep milking the livers, I guess.

No one, not even the main fanbase, cared about those shows. They sold like absolute crap and were really poorly received.
Love Live Sunshine is selling extremely well and has been largely well received (Pointing out that last part because I know you free thinkers with your totally non generic opinions are gonna make some very original comparisons to Twilight and Transformers if I don't).
So no, you can't make that comparison just because you didn't like it.

By the time I watched the 13th episode, I thought that it would end with a cliffhanger, since it remains to be seen whether if Aqours saved their school in the end or not.
And by the time this popped up, my assumption was right the whole time.

Careful with the edge buddy, you might cut someone.
Anyway, I'm not surprised by the news but I'm really happy for the second season.

A lifetime of only being allowed to use safety scissors has given you an odd sense of what an edge looks like.

While there was initially an excessive amount of parallels between Sunshine!! & the original, towards the end of the season there was a message of "we can't just copy Muse if we want to be successful" so I'm optimistic about the future of Sunshine!! & hope it will come into its own. The quality of the music they're putting out is a huge leap forward from Muse in my opinion, so hopefully the talent can transfer more to the show.
