At the theater I work at, the Sunday dubbed screening sold 321 tickets (almost sold-out), and the Monday subtitled one sold 108. Those are both very good. No idea about the Thursday dubbed screening. Hope to see similar numbers for Princess Mononoke next month.

Why they still mention the Oscar everytime they talk about Spirited Away as if it were such an overwhelmingly important prize, even though Spirited Away was the only great movie to ever win it anyway.

Seriously, I think it's about time that the new Shinkai film overthrows this movie in Japan, especially with how moody Miyazaki himself has become.

I mean, it's a pretty big deal that it won. That it's the only non-mainstream American film to break through to win this award in of itself is a very big deal. |

@koimosuke, that speaks more about the award than about the film. People should just stop paying attention to it, specially in a news site dedicated to East Asian visual culture, why mention an award that is by and for the North American movie industry?
